Davante Adams Exits Game vs. Lions with Hamstring Injury
The Rams’ offense took a major hit on Sunday when Davante Adams went down with a hamstring injury during their Week 15 matchup against the Detroit Lions.
Adams had been dealing with a nagging hamstring issue in recent weeks, but up until now, he’d managed to stay on the field and contribute. He was listed as limited in Friday’s practice, but suited up and started the game. That durability streak, however, came to a halt in the middle of Sunday’s contest.
The injury occurred on a deep route - one of those classic Adams burners where he tries to stretch the secondary. But this time, something gave.
Adams pulled up mid-stride and immediately went to the turf, clearly in discomfort. After spending some time on the ground, he limped off under his own power before heading straight to the locker room for further evaluation.
Before exiting, Adams had already made an impact, pulling in four catches for 71 yards. That kind of production has been typical of his first season in Los Angeles, where he’s been a steady presence in the Rams’ passing attack. Coming into Sunday’s game, Adams had 56 receptions for 718 yards, averaging a healthy 12.8 yards per catch.
It’s been a bit of a redemption arc for Adams this season. After a rocky stint with the Jets and Raiders, he signed a two-year, $46 million deal with the Rams following his release from New York. And for most of the year, he’s looked like the same elite receiver who once terrorized secondaries in Green Bay - a precise route-runner with strong hands and a knack for creating separation.
Now, the Rams will be holding their breath as they await word on the severity of the injury. With the playoff race heating up and Los Angeles fighting for position, losing Adams for any stretch of time would be a serious blow to their offensive rhythm.
We’ll keep an eye on updates as they come in, but for now, the Rams are hoping their top wideout’s latest hamstring issue is more precautionary than problematic.
