The Buffalo Bills got a scare Thursday night when DJ Moore went down with a shoulder injury against the Detroit Lions, but the latest update points to a break in their favor.
Moore was hurt late in the game after trying to haul in a low pass from Allen at the Bills’ endzone. He missed the catch, and then Lions cornerback Rock Ya-Sin landed on his upper body, with the impact hitting Moore in the neck and shoulder area.
Moore stayed down for a bit before getting to his feet and walking off on his own. The Bills later sent him for an X-ray as they waited to see how serious the damage was.
On Friday, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that the news was encouraging. “Bills WR DJ Moore suffered a shoulder injury Thursday night that doctors do not consider serious and will leave him day to day, per source. ‘He has a chance to play next week (vs. the Chargers), but it’s not a lock, either,’ said the source.”
That gives Buffalo reason to breathe a little easier, especially with Moore already managing an ankle injury in the season opener against the Carolina Panthers. The Bills need him available, and they need him healthy.
Even without him finishing the night, Buffalo kept rolling. James Cook led the ground game with 135 yards and a touchdown on 21 carries. Dalton Kincaid also chipped in with a big performance, catching seven passes for 95 yards and a touchdown.
And then there was Josh Allen, who put together a night that looked every bit the MVP-level outing Buffalo wanted. He threw for 248 yards and three touchdowns, added 69 rushing yards, and ran for two more scores. In all, Allen accounted for five touchdowns in the Bills’ win over Detroit.
