Lions Fans Are Mourning A Personal Loss In Dan Millers Family

The Detroit Lions community mourns the loss of Cynthia Miller, a beloved figure and wife of play-by-play voice Dan Miller.

Cynthia Miller, the wife of Detroit Lions play-by-play voice Dan Miller, has died. She passed away on October 10, 2026.

Griffin Funeral Home identified her as Cynthia “Cindy” Louise Miller, born October 3, 1963, in Falls Church, Virginia, to Roy and the late Valerie (Weber) Biondi. The funeral home described her as someone with “magnetic personality, infectious humor, and welcoming spirit” who made others feel like family.

Cindy and Dan Miller were married for 33 years. She was the mother of Sammi (Brendan) Burdette, Rikki Miller, Tony (Viona Veseli) Miller, and Robbie Miller, and the grandmother of Daphne and Cecilia. She was also the sister of Gino (Lisa) Biondi, Steve (Marissa) Biondi, and Julie (Chris) Griffin.

Her connection to the Lions ran deep. Cindy attended every home game and sat in the fifth row directly behind the Lions bench.

Griffin Funeral Home said, “Some of her best memories were attending the two home playoff games with her daughters in 2024. Her family knows that she will be there in spirit when the Lions win it all.”

A memorial gathering is scheduled for Friday, October 16, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the L.J. Griffin Funeral Home, Northrop-Sassaman Chapel, 19091 Northville Road (at Seven Mile Road), Northville. A funeral service celebrating her life will follow at 6:00 p.m.

Dan Miller has long been one of the most recognized broadcasting voices in the region, and he once spoke about how football tied his family together. In a Social House News feature, he said: “My wife loves football (Cindy attends all Lions games, Dan shared), my kids love football.

When I'd have a Saturday off in the fall, my daughters would come downstairs and ask, 'What college football games are on today? We'd sit around the TV, they'd have their computers on their lap and we'd watch games.

When the noon games were about to end, they'd ask, 'What games are on at 3:30?' It was heavan for me.”

Lions Suddenly Have A Linebacker Decision Fans Will Notice

Devin White is back in the mix for the Lions at a time when the linebacker group could use a boost. Detroit activated White for Week 5 against the Arizona Cardinals after he had been inactive since Week 3, giving the defense another body in a unit that has had its share of problems handling both the pass and the run.

Whites return also puts the Lions in an interesting spot as they head toward their bye week. He has struggled in limited snaps this season, but a game like this gives Detroit a chance to see whether he can help steady the middle of the defense, or at least create more clarity about where he stands moving forward. Lions Week 5 Inactives Bring One Huge Defensive Twist

The Lions Week 5 injury report brought a little bit of clarity and a little bit of churn as they lined up for Arizona, with several familiar names affected by the final inactive list. Cornerback Rock Ya-Sin and offensive lineman Ben Bartch were among the players ruled out, while safety Jalen Mills was elevated to the active roster and Tyler Conklin returned after missing two weeks.

What stands out most for Detroit, though, is the defensive wrinkle up front. Tyleik Williams is active and expected to start against the Cardinals, giving the Lions a fresh look in the middle of their defensive line at a time when every rotation decision matters. It is the kind of move that can quietly reshape the tone of a game before the first snap, even if the biggest answers will have to wait until the matchup unfolds. [Read more 🡒]

Lions Face A Few Crucial Lineup Calls Before Cardinals Game

The Lions head into their matchup with the Cardinals trying to bank another win before the bye, and the focus in Allen Park is squarely on how the lineup will shake out. Detroits depth chart has been taking shape around a mix of established starters, backups ready for bigger roles, and a few injured players whose availability has forced the staff to keep adjusting as the week unfolds.

A handful of the decisions are still tied to health, with some contributors already trending toward game-day uncertainty and others working their way back into the mix. The bigger picture for Detroit is not just getting through Sunday, but using this stretch to settle a few personnel questions that could matter even more once the team comes out of the bye and starts tightening up the interior of the lineup.
