Detroit Lions fans may have hit the brakes after the Week 2 loss to the Bills, but they still like their chances against the New York Jets in Week 3.
In this week’s SB Nation Reacts survey, sponsored by FanDuel Sportsbook, confidence among Lions fans took a sharp drop. For the first time in the Dan Campbell era, fewer than half of respondents said they feel confident the organization is headed in the right direction. That number fell from 63% in last week’s survey.
Even with that slide, plenty of fans still expect Detroit to handle business on Sunday.
The comments reflected a split mood: frustration with the direction of the team, but not a full collapse in belief. AlbinoCoconut71 wrote, “Don’t believe they have the right coaches & GM.
Granted, they are the best Detroits had in my lifetime, but that’s not saying much.” IsThisTheYear pointed to the coaching staff more selectively, saying, “I believe they have the right head coach.
I’m optimistic about the offensive coordinator. I’m beginning to think the defensive coordinator is in over his head.
I’m worried that BH has read his press clippings of his early draft success, and lets his arrogance get in the way.“
Others weren’t ready to overreact. 1951Lion said, “This organization overall has done nothing to make me doubt them.
Shep included.” And Anakinspyroar pushed back on the panic after one loss: “Damn.
One loss and y’all are losing confidence? It’s week 2, guys, come on.“
On the prediction side, the optimism held. Among the most approved and interacted with Week 3 picks, TomRem. said, “Looking forward to the game on Sunday, expect a Lions victory and don’t care if it’s by 1 or 20.”
Matt48912 raised the possibility of a huge offensive night: “I am wondering if we could see a 50-burger type of beatdown as we saw against Chicago last year in week 2.” Prof_SJR also backed Detroit, writing, “Yes, we beat the Jets.
DC teams have only lost back-to-back once since 2022.”
FanDuel Sportsbook currently has the Lions at +1900 to win this year’s Super Bowl and lists them as 6.5-point favorites in Week 3.
