The first quarter in Detroit had all the feel of a heavyweight fight, with both teams landing punches and a couple of costly self-inflicted blows mixed in.
Minnesota got the ball first after the Lions won the toss and deferred, and the Vikings wasted no time pushing into Detroit territory. On the opening snap, Kyler Murray hit Ben Yurosek for 24 yards, a clean strike that immediately put pressure on the Lions.
The drive stalled after a deep throw to Jordan Addison fell incomplete, then T.J. Hockenson came close on third down before Will Reichard lined up for a 57-yard try.
Reichard pushed it right, missing his first non-blocked kick of the season.
Detroit started at its own 47 after the miss, and the Lions looked headed for a quick punt before a roughing the passer call kept the series alive after Jared Goff missed Amon-Ra St. Brown on third down.
But the Vikings got a break of their own when St. Brown was flagged for taunting after Sione Vaki moved the chains.
That sequence knocked Detroit back toward midfield, and the drive unraveled from there with sacks on two of the next three plays.
Minnesota’s next possession never really got rolling. The Vikings managed only one first down, a 10-yard Jordan Mason run, before Murray was forced to throw it away on third down, sailing the ball well over Jordan Addison.
Detroit’s following drive featured a little more chaos and a little more luck. Goff had a pass deflect into St.
Brown’s hands for a wild third-down conversion, and then Jameson Williams ripped off a 46-yard gain that set the Lions up to threaten. Once again, though, a taunting penalty wiped away momentum and pushed Detroit back 15 yards.
The Lions nearly broke through anyway. On the next snap, Goff found St.
Brown for what looked like a 24-yard touchdown, but the play was overturned on review when the ball came loose after the receiver hit the ground. After that play, St.
Brown was taken to the locker room.

Lions Win Took A Back Seat To One Frightening Jack Campbell Scene
Detroits 19-15 win over Minnesota came with the kind of unease that can linger long after the final whistle. The Lions had already been dealing with injuries on defense during the game, but the biggest concern arrived in the fourth quarter when linebacker Jack Campbell went down and the mood inside the stadium shifted immediately.
Campbell was hurt on a tackle attempt and remained on the turf for an extended stretch before being helped off the field on a stretcher. He was later taken to a hospital for evaluation, turning a hard-fought divisional victory into a night the Lions will remember for far more than the result. [Read more 🡒]
Lions Fans Are Already Buzzing About Ford Fields New Food Stand
Ford Fields latest concession addition arrived with a distinctly Detroit flavor on Oct. 25, when Moms Spaghetti made its debut at the Lions game. Inspired by Eminems Lose Yourself, the restaurants food stand brought spaghetti and meatballs, along with the Sghetti sandwich, into the stadium mix through a partnership with Levy, Ford Fields food and beverage partner.
The stand is set to travel with the Lions again for the game in Munich, Germany, giving the team another local touchpoint far from home. It also comes with a community-minded angle, since the volunteer staff working the stand benefits various organizations, which fits neatly with the kind of neighborhood feel the Lions have tried to build around their home games. Jared Goffs Pregame Ford Field Moment Had Lions Fans Feeling It
Before the Lions kicked off against the Vikings on Nov. 1 at Ford Field, Jared Goff got a sideline moment that had little to do with coverage checks and everything to do with family. The quarterback was seen on the field with his wife, Christen Harper Goff, and their daughter, Romy, in a pregame scene that the NFL later captured in a video on Instagram.
The clip showed Goff holding his daughter and spending time with his wife near the sideline, a small but striking reminder of how much these moments resonate beyond the scoreboard. It was the kind of personal snapshot that tends to travel fast with fans, especially when it comes just before a divisional game at home. [Read more 🡒]
