Nikola Jokic, the Denver Nuggets' All-Star, shared his thoughts on fellow Serbian Nikola Topic's NBA debut with the Oklahoma City Thunder. This comes after Topic's courageous battle with testicular cancer, a challenge he faced head-on before stepping onto the court.
Reflecting on Topic's journey, Jokic said, “I played with him a bit on the national team. He's a great guy-really talented.

He's the future of Serbian basketball. He's overcome something incredibly important, and he won.”
Jokic's praise isn't just empty words. Topic has shown promise, contributing to the Thunder's victories over the Brooklyn Nets and Cleveland Cavaliers, even in the absence of All-Star Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. With SGA returning for the Friday face-off against the Nuggets, the Thunder is looking to regain full strength.
During Gilgeous-Alexander's nine-game absence, the Thunder managed a 5-4 record. Topic, in his early NBA stint, averaged 3.2 points with impressive shooting percentages-43.8% overall and 40% from three-point range-along with 2.0 assists and 1.6 rebounds in just over 10 minutes per game.
Now, with SGA back in action, the Thunder has assigned Topic to their G League affiliate, the Blue, to get more playing time and continue his development. The Blue is currently on a home stand at the Paycom Center, providing Topic a valuable opportunity to hone his skills before the Thunder hits the road for a three-game stretch.
As Topic continues his journey, both on and off the court, he's a player to watch-not just for his talent but for his resilience and determination in the face of adversity.
