KJ Simpson Linked to Nuggets with Intriguing Contract Move

Promising guard KJ Simpson is poised to bring his talents to the Denver Nuggets under a two-way contract, offering fresh potential as the team reshapes its roster.

KJ Simpson is set to join the Denver Nuggets on a two-way contract, according to insider reports. This move comes after the 23-year-old point guard was initially drafted by Charlotte as the 42nd pick in the 2024 draft. Simpson had signed a two-year, two-way deal with the Hornets but was waived on February 6, making room for Tosan Evbuomwan.

During his stint with Charlotte, Simpson played in 50 games, starting 17 of them. He posted averages of 7.3 points, 2.9 assists, and 2.8 rebounds over 21.3 minutes per game, with shooting splits of .346/.266/.773. However, he hasn't seen game action since December 18.

The Nuggets have a spot available after promoting Spencer Jones to a standard contract. If Simpson's signing is finalized today, he could participate in up to 16 regular season games.

Waiting until Thursday to sign would limit his appearances to 15 games. This opportunity with Denver could be a fresh start for Simpson to showcase his skills and make an impact.
