The Denver Nuggets' dynamic duo, Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray, hit an impressive milestone on Wednesday night, securing their 400th career victory together. This achievement came in style, with Murray lighting up the court for 53 points in a thrilling 142-135 win over the Dallas Mavericks. Meanwhile, Jokic delivered yet another triple-double, posting 23 points, 21 rebounds, and 19 assists.
Reflecting on their journey, Jokic shared his thoughts on playing alongside Murray. “I think it's the growth,” he remarked.
“From where we started to becoming champions, it's been a unique journey. We're still growing and performing, and hopefully, we can keep this up.”
Murray's performance was one for the books, marking just the 16th 50-point game in the NBA this season, and his second. He was on fire, hitting 19-of-28 shots, including 9-of-14 from three-point range, and was flawless from the free throw line. Jokic, on the other hand, recorded a 23-21-19 stat line for the second time in NBA history, a feat only he has accomplished.
Head coach David Adelman expressed his admiration for the pair during his postgame press conference, highlighting their significance to Denver sports. “Those two guys, with all the battles they've faced, truly represent the history of this franchise,” Adelman said.
“When we look back, it’ll be amazing to see what they’ve accomplished together. We’re fortunate to have them in this city.”
As the Nuggets gear up for another postseason run, the Jokic-Murray connection continues to be the heartbeat of a magical era in Denver basketball. With one championship already in the bag, the potential for more is undeniably exciting.
