Paton’s tenure hasn’t been flawless. The hiring of Nathaniel Hackett was a misstep, largely driven by the hope of attracting Aaron Rodgers to Denver-a plan that ultimately didn’t pan out. The Russell Wilson trade and contract also didn’t deliver the expected results, though at the time, it seemed like the right move.
Critics have pointed out ongoing issues, such as the team’s struggles with running back, linebacker, and tight end positions, along with a troubling trend of dropped passes over the past two seasons. Yet, Paton’s successes are notable.
