Ravens Target Jaguars Coach in Bold Move for Head Job Opening

The Ravens continue their expansive head coaching search with an interview set for rising Jaguars defensive coordinator Anthony Campanile.

The Baltimore Ravens are casting a wide net in their search for a new head coach, and on Monday, they added another intriguing name to the mix: Jaguars defensive coordinator Anthony Campanile.

Campanile, 43, is the latest in a long list of candidates to interview for the Ravens’ top job, and his trajectory through the coaching ranks is nothing short of impressive. He’s one of several defensive-minded coaches Baltimore has brought in, signaling that the franchise may be leaning toward a leader who can bring toughness and structure on that side of the ball.

Let’s take a look at where things stand in the Ravens’ head coaching search. Here’s the updated list of candidates who’ve either interviewed or are scheduled to do so:

  • Matt Nagy, Chiefs OC (Interviewed)
  • Klint Kubiak, Seahawks OC (Interviewed)
  • Davis Webb, Broncos QB coach (Interviewed)
  • Vance Joseph, Broncos DC (Interviewed)
  • Anthony Weaver, Dolphins DC (Interviewed)
  • Kliff Kingsbury, former Commanders OC (Interviewed)
  • Brian Flores, Vikings DC (Interviewed)
  • Jim Schwartz, Browns DC (Interviewed)
  • Jesse Minter, Chargers DC (Interviewed)
  • Robert Saleh, 49ers DC (Interviewed)
  • Joe Brady, Bills OC (Interviewed)
  • Chris Shula, Rams DC (Interviewed)
  • Mike McDaniel, former Dolphins HC (Scheduled)
  • Nate Scheelhaase, Rams pass game coordinator (Interviewed)
  • Anthony Campanile, Jaguars DC (Interviewed)

That’s a deep and diverse pool, featuring offensive and defensive minds, veteran head coaches, and up-and-coming assistants. But let’s zero in on Campanile, who’s steadily built a résumé that’s hard to ignore.

After a playing career at Rutgers, Campanile cut his teeth coaching high school football in New Jersey. He returned to Rutgers in 2012 as a defensive assistant, then worked his way up to tight ends coach and later wide receivers coach.

His next stop came in 2016 at Boston College, where he took over the defensive backs. That gig helped launch him into the national spotlight, and by 2019, he was coaching linebackers at Michigan under Jim Harbaugh.

From there, he made the jump to the NFL, joining the Dolphins in 2020 as their linebackers coach - a role he held through 2023. In 2024, the Packers brought him aboard as their linebackers coach and run game coordinator, and just a year later, the Jaguars handed him the keys to their defense.

That decision paid off. In 2025, Jacksonville’s defense took a major step forward under Campanile’s leadership.

The Jags finished the season ranked eighth in scoring defense and 11th in total defense. But where they really shined was against the run - they were the league’s best, locking down opposing ground games week after week.

The pass defense lagged behind a bit, finishing 21st, but the overall results were strong and speak to Campanile’s ability to elevate a unit quickly.

For a Ravens team that has long prided itself on defensive identity, Campanile’s resume could be especially appealing. He’s coached at nearly every level, worked with both college and NFL players, and shown he can adapt and lead. With Baltimore looking to reset and reload, he’s a name worth keeping an eye on as the coaching carousel continues to spin.
