In a surprising offseason twist, former New York Jets linebacker Bryce Huff has announced his retirement at just 27. Huff, who also had stints with the Philadelphia Eagles and the San Francisco 49ers in 2025, joins a growing list of former Jets stepping away from the gridiron.
Adding to the retirement wave is ex-Jets quarterback Chris Streveler. At 31, Streveler has decided to hang up his cleats, marking the end of an intriguing professional journey that spanned both the NFL and CFL.
Streveler’s time with the Jets was brief but memorable. He made a single start in 2022, where he completed 10 out of 15 passes, achieving a 66.7% completion rate for 90 yards.
While touchdowns eluded him, he managed to secure five first downs through the air. On the ground, Streveler was effective, rushing nine times for 54 yards and picking up an additional first down, despite a fumble against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
His NFL career began with the Arizona Cardinals, where he played during the 2020 and 2021 seasons. After his stint with the Jets in 2022, Streveler was waived mid-August but found his way back to the CFL, where he initially made his mark with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in 2018 and 2019.
Returning to Winnipeg in 2024 and 2025, Streveler played 31 games, completing 124 of 198 passes for 1,446 yards, with seven touchdowns and 12 interceptions. His 2025 season alone saw him throw for 1,103 yards, six touchdowns, and 11 interceptions.
Streveler’s career, which began at college with Minnesota and South Dakota, now concludes after nearly a decade of professional football. His journey through both leagues showcases the unique paths athletes take and the varied experiences they gather along the way.
