The Miami Dolphins are making waves this offseason with a significant roster shakeup, but one star is firmly staying put. De'Von Achane, the dynamic running back, isn't going anywhere, despite interest from other teams. Miami has made it clear that Achane is off the table, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Achane, just 24 and entering the final year of his rookie contract, is evidently a key piece in new head coach Jeff Hafley's vision for the team. Last season, Achane was a standout performer, rushing for an impressive 1,350 yards and eight touchdowns. He also proved his versatility by contributing to the passing game with 67 receptions for 488 yards and four touchdowns.
New general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan hinted at the Dolphins' desire to keep Achane around for the long haul. At the NFL scouting combine, Sullivan expressed admiration for Achane's talents and suggested that discussions about a contract extension are on the horizon, likely later in the summer.
While Achane remains a cornerstone, Miami has been busy reshuffling other parts of their roster. The Dolphins recently traded wide receiver Jaylen Waddle to the Denver Broncos. In a strategic move, Miami received the Broncos' first-round pick (30th overall) along with a third-round and a fourth-round pick.
In another bold decision, the Dolphins parted ways with quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, who struggled during the 2025 season. Tagovailoa's departure makes way for Malik Willis, who steps in as the new signal-caller.
The Dolphins' offseason moves didn't stop there. Tyreek Hill, a former Super Bowl champion with the Kansas City Chiefs, was released last month. Additionally, Miami traded Minkah Fitzpatrick to the New York Jets, acquiring a 2026 seventh-round pick in return.
As the Dolphins continue their rebuild, it's clear that while some familiar faces are moving on, De'Von Achane remains a vital part of their future plans.
