The Chiefs’ Week 1 win over the Broncos came with a familiar caveat: the passing game still didn’t look fully right.
Kansas City got the result it wanted, but Rashee Rice, Xavier Worthy and the rest of the receiver group didn’t exactly light it up. It wasn’t a disaster, but it was enough to keep the conversation going about whether the Chiefs need another answer at wideout.
That’s where Cleveland Browns receiver Jerry Jeudy enters the picture. Kristopher Knox of Bleacher Report listed Kansas City as a “potential suitor” for Jeudy, and the fit makes a lot of sense on paper. Knox pointed out that Jeudy is still 27 and carries a contract that should interest teams eyeing 2026 contention, with a base salary of only $1.5 million.
“However, Jeudy is still only 27 years old and has a contract that should appeal to 2026 contenders in need of receiver help - he has a base salary of only $1.5 million,” Knox writes. "... Potential suitors: Kansas City Chiefs, New England Patriots."
The projected price tag is manageable, too. Knox pegs Jeudy’s trade value at a “conditional 4th-round draft pick,” which is enough to matter but not so steep that a deal would feel out of reach.
For Kansas City, the appeal is obvious. Jeudy would give Patrick Mahomes another target and add some much-needed help to a receiver room that could use a jolt. He has also had his share of bad quarterback luck, which makes this kind of move feel like the sort of fresh start that could finally unlock the player many expected coming out of college.
Cleveland’s side of the equation also lines up. The Browns used the first and second rounds of the 2026 NFL Draft on KC Concepcion and Denzel Boston, and Isaiah Bond is another interesting name on the depth chart. With that kind of depth, Jeudy starts to look more movable.
That matters even more given where the Browns are headed. They’re rebuilding, they already traded Myles Garrett, and Jeudy doesn’t seem like a lock to be part of their long-term plans at receiver. In that context, moving him would make sense for them, too.
And for Jeudy himself, the switch might be the best part of all. A jump from the Browns to the Chiefs - from Deshaun Watson and Shedeur Sanders to Mahomes - would be a massive change in scenery.
