The Philadelphia Eagles are heading into the 2026 offseason with more than a few questions to answer-and it starts with the offense.
After a season that ended with more frustration than fireworks, the Eagles made a key move by parting ways with offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo. In his place steps Sean Mannion, a fresh face from Green Bay tasked with recalibrating a unit that, at times, looked disjointed and out of sync.
The 2025 season saw reported tension between Jalen Hurts, A.J. Brown, and other members of the offensive unit-a dynamic that clearly needed a reset.
Mannion’s job now is not just about X’s and O’s, but also about restoring trust and rhythm in a locker room that once thrived on chemistry.
But even as the Eagles try to retool their offensive strategy, they may be staring down a significant loss in free agency. Tight end Dallas Goedert, one of the most consistent weapons in their arsenal last season, could be on the move-and the Denver Broncos are watching closely.
Goedert is coming off a standout year, hauling in 60 receptions for 591 yards and 11 touchdowns. That kind of production doesn’t just grow on trees, especially at the tight end position. He was a safety net for Hurts, a reliable red zone option, and one of the few bright spots in an offense that struggled to find its identity late in the season.
Now, with free agency looming, Denver could swoop in and snag him. The Broncos have a clear need at tight end, and Sean Payton has a long-standing affinity for veteran pass-catchers at that spot.
From Jeremy Shockey to Jared Cook, Payton has historically leaned on experienced tight ends to help shape his offense. While the Evan Engram experiment didn’t pan out in 2025, Goedert offers a different profile-more size, more physicality, and a proven ability to win in contested catch situations.
For rookie quarterback Bo Nix, adding a target like Goedert could be a game-changer. A tight end who can work the middle of the field and provide a reliable outlet on third downs is exactly what young quarterbacks need to grow. And for Payton, who’s already made several roster tweaks this offseason, it’s another opportunity to mold the Broncos into a more balanced, efficient offense.
Back in Philly, the potential departure of Goedert would leave a noticeable void. His chemistry with Hurts, particularly in the red zone, was a key part of the Eagles’ offensive success when things were clicking. Losing that kind of weapon-especially during a period of transition-would be a tough pill to swallow.
There’s also been chatter that big news could be coming out of the Eagles’ camp, and while nothing’s confirmed yet, Goedert’s future is certainly one of the biggest storylines to watch as free agency approaches.
One thing’s for sure: the Eagles’ offense is undergoing a transformation. Whether that includes Dallas Goedert in 2026 remains to be seen.
