As the NFL offseason heats up, the Pittsburgh Steelers seemed like the frontrunners in the Aaron Rodgers sweepstakes for 2026. However, the Denver Broncos have now thrown their hat into the ring.
After an impressive 14-3 season, the Broncos fell just short of the Super Bowl when their young quarterback, Bo Nix, suffered a broken ankle in the divisional round against the Bills. Despite owner Greg Penner's optimistic report that Nix is "ahead of schedule" in his recovery, head coach Sean Payton is exploring the possibility of bringing in the four-time MVP, Aaron Rodgers.
According to reports, the Broncos might invite Rodgers for a visit, driven by concerns that Nix may not be fully ready by Week 1. Beyond just his health, there's the question of whether Nix is the best option to lead Denver to a Super Bowl victory. While it's still early days, the Broncos' interest in Rodgers is serious, especially as the Steelers are also in the mix for the veteran quarterback.
At the recent league meeting, Broncos co-owner and CEO Greg Penner expressed confidence in Nix's progress. "He’s attacked his recovery with the same intensity he brings to game preparation," Penner shared. "We’re really pleased with his progress and the support from our team."
In a move to bolster their offense, Denver also traded for Dolphins receiver Jaylen Waddle, signaling their commitment to making a strong push for the Lombardi Trophy this year. With these developments, the Broncos are clearly gearing up for a thrilling season.
