Broncos Linked to Final NFL Head Coach Openings as Search Narrows

With just two NFL head coaching vacancies remaining, the Broncos find themselves uniquely positioned at the center of both searches.

With Todd Monken officially taking the reins in Cleveland, the NFL head coaching carousel is nearly done spinning. Just two vacancies remain: the Las Vegas Raiders and the Arizona Cardinals. And while the dust is settling in most cities, these two franchises are still deep in the decision-making process - with the Denver Broncos playing a surprising role in both searches.

Let’s start with Arizona. Vance Joseph, Denver’s defensive coordinator, has interviewed for the Cardinals’ job.

It’s a return-to-familiar-territory scenario - Joseph was Arizona’s DC before heading back to Denver - but despite the connection, he’s not viewed as the frontrunner. His name is in the mix, but this doesn’t feel like a done deal.

Meanwhile in Vegas, things are heating up. Two names have emerged as serious contenders: Davis Webb and Klint Kubiak.

Webb, currently the Broncos’ offensive pass game coordinator and quarterbacks coach, has already completed two rounds of interviews with the Raiders - first via Zoom, then in person. That level of engagement signals real interest.

He’s a young, rising mind who’s been on the radar for several offensive coordinator roles across the league, and he might even be in line for a promotion in Denver after Joe Lombardi’s recent dismissal.

Kubiak, on the other hand, is a bit tied up at the moment - he’s busy preparing Seattle’s offense for the Super Bowl. That’s a wrinkle for the Raiders, who can’t officially hire him until after February 8.

But if he’s their guy, they’ll wait. Kubiak’s stock has been climbing steadily, and his work with the Seahawks this season has turned heads.

So here’s where we stand: two teams, two jobs, and a handful of candidates - some of whom are already embedded in Denver’s coaching staff. The Broncos have a unique stake in how this all plays out. Whether it’s Joseph heading to Arizona, Webb to Vegas, or even a reshuffling in-house, Denver’s coaching tree is being pruned and prodded from multiple directions.

Now, it’s just a waiting game. The Raiders and Cardinals are the last two dominoes. Once they fall, the full picture of the 2026 NFL coaching landscape will finally come into focus.
