The Denver Broncos have long been a breeding ground for undrafted success stories, producing Pro Bowlers, All-Pros, and even World Champions. It's a legacy that continues to shine as we head into the 2026 season.
For 21 of the last 22 seasons, an undrafted rookie has earned a spot on the Broncos' 53-man roster straight out of training camp. As the new season approaches, the big question is whether that streak will extend to 22.
Pro Football Focus' Daire Carragher is a fan of the Broncos' knack for spotting undrafted talent, and he's featured three veterans on his All-Undrafted Team of 2026. One standout is Dondrea Tillman, whose journey to the NFL was anything but typical.
After making the leap from the UFL's Birmingham Stallions to the Broncos, Tillman has been a force on the field, racking up 49 pressures and nine sacks over just 747 defensive snaps. His unexpected rise has kept Denver's eyes on the UFL, leading them to sign Hakeem Butler, the league's reigning Offensive Player of the Year, and his teammate, cornerback and returner Sean Fresch Jr., just as the UFL season wrapped up.
Carragher also highlights the remarkable performance of linebacker Singleton, who continues to play top-tier football at 32. The Broncos recently re-signed him, ensuring his presence for at least the next two years.
Then there's McMillian, whose play deserves a closer look. His defining moment came with a game-sealing interception against Josh Allen in the AFC Championship Game.
But McMillian's talents extend beyond coverage; he's a formidable blitzer with eight pressures and four sacks on just 40 pass-rush attempts last season. His knack for being around the ball is undeniable, contributing to five of Denver's 14 takeaways in 2025, not to mention his crucial interception in the divisional playoff overtime.
McMillian is a standout talent, and credit goes to Broncos GM George Paton for unearthing gems like him and Tillman from the undrafted pool. Singleton, who started as a college free agent with the Seahawks in 2015, was another savvy pickup by Paton in 2022.
Singleton and McMillian have earned spots on PFF's All-Undrafted Team and are also featured in the top 25 Broncos of 2026. Tillman, too, is a vital piece of the puzzle, especially with rush linebacker Jonathon Cooper facing off-field issues. Should Cooper face suspension or release, Jonah Elliss might be the next in line, but Tillman's reliability and productivity make him a strong candidate for the role.
The Broncos' undrafted legacy continues to hold significant weight in the NFL in 2026. Other undrafted contributors include All-Pro special teams ace Devon Key, defensive lineman Malcolm Roach, running back Jaleel McLaughlin, offensive lineman Alex Palczewski, tight ends Nate Adkins and Lucas Krull, and wide receiver Lil'Jordan Humphrey.
This year, the Broncos' undrafted rookie class is looking to make waves, with linebacker Taurean York and cornerback Brent Austin leading the charge. It will be fascinating to see if any of these players can secure a roster spot.
Breaking into this deep, championship-caliber roster is no small feat. But history tells us it's possible, as seen with C.J.
Anderson and Shaquille Barrett during the Peyton Manning era. It's not about the size of the dog in the fight, but the size of the fight in the dog.

Broncos Uniform Overhaul Is Getting The NFL Respect Fans Wanted
When the Broncos rolled out the Mile High Collection for 2024, it was clear the franchise wanted the new look to do more than just freshen up the closet. The mix of the 77 Throwbacks and the Midnight Navy set was built to lean into Denver and Colorado identity, and the early reaction around the league has backed up the idea that this was more than a cosmetic tweak.
Sports Illustrateds Mike Kadlick slotted Denver 10th in his ranking of all 32 NFL teams uniform combinations, a solid sign that the overhaul is getting the respect fans were hoping for. The Broncos landed behind a handful of other clubs, with the Chargers at No. 1 and several familiar rivals grouped around them, which only adds a little extra edge as the team moves toward training camp and gets ready to show the new threads on the field. Three Broncos Backups Could Quietly Decide Denver's 2026 Ceiling
The Broncos ceiling in 2026 may have as much to do with the back end of the roster as the names at the top of it. Malcolm Roach has already shown he can help on the defensive line, and with John Franklin-Myers gone in free agency, there is a path for his workload to matter more if Denver leans on his run defense and pass rush production. It is the kind of quiet swing factor that rarely gets the spotlight in July but can shape how sturdy a defense looks by the time the season starts.
Inside linebacker is murkier, with Alex Singleton and Justin Strnad ahead of a spot that is still very much up for grabs. The Broncos also have a rookie tight end in Justin Joly who has a realistic chance to stick and could fit as a receiving option in the TE3 conversation, which adds another layer to a roster battle worth watching. If Denver gets useful answers from those backup jobs, the 2026 roster starts looking a lot deeper and a lot more complete. [Read more 🡒]
Jaleel McLaughlin Sends Clear Message As Broncos Role Remains Unsettled
Jaleel McLaughlin has spent much of his Broncos tenure fighting for touches, but his stance on staying in Denver has been clear. Even with his playing time limited, the running back has made it plain that he wants to keep building here, drawn to the team, the city and the chance to win with the Broncos rather than look elsewhere for a bigger role.
That kind of patience matters in a backfield that still feels unsettled, where every rep can shape the pecking order. McLaughlins commitment gives Denver a little stability, even if his path to a larger workload remains unclear, and it fits the profile of a player willing to wait out the depth chart as long as the long-term payoff stays in view.
