ENGLEWOOD, Colo. - The Broncos got back to work Thursday, but Marvin Mims Jr. was nowhere to be seen.
As Denver opened its on-field prep for Sunday’s game against the Jacksonville Jaguars, the fourth-year wide receiver and kickoff/punt returner was the lone Bronco absent from practice.
Mims had been one of two players on Wednesday’s estimated practice report marked as not practicing. Running back RJ Harvey was the other name on that list, but he was on the field when Thursday’s session began. Mims was listed with a foot injury.
Because NFL teams have to file estimated practice reports on days they don’t hold practice before a game, Denver’s Wednesday report reflected a league requirement. The only exceptions are a Saturday before a Sunday game or a Sunday before a Monday game.
The Broncos made Wednesday their league-mandated off day for the week, after bringing players into the building Tuesday following the 31-10 Monday Night Football loss at Kansas City.
Mims did briefly exit Monday night’s game after what the press box announced as a hip injury, though he later returned. His foot issue dates back to Aug. 28, when he suffered a bruise in the preseason finale against the Minnesota Vikings and was knocked out of that game.
After Monday’s game, Mims said, “I feel fine. I’ll be good, should be all right,” Mims said in the locker room after Monday’s game. “Just some old stuff coming back up, but I should be fine for the next week.”
Three days later, he still had not made it back onto the practice field.
