The Denver Broncos are in a unique position this offseason, as one of only three teams yet to make a splash in the 2026 NFL Free Agency. While it's true that championships aren't won in March, the lack of movement is a bit surprising for a team that came so close to Super Bowl glory last season. But don't count the Broncos out just yet; there's still time to turn things around.
Broncos fans have been eagerly awaiting some big moves, and adding a top-tier tight end could be just what the doctor ordered. Bringing in someone like David Njoku or Dallas Goedert would send a clear message that Denver is serious about making a run for the title and giving quarterback Bo Nix the support he needs.
The expectation is that tight end Evan Engram will play a bigger role in the offense this season. Last year, he was underutilized, especially given his potential to impact the game in the middle of the field and in the red zone. New offensive coordinator Davis Webb will need to tap into Engram's playmaking abilities to elevate the Broncos' attack.
Despite re-signing Adam Trautman and Nate Adkins, the Broncos should still be on the hunt for upgrades at tight end. Adding a veteran like Goedert or Njoku could significantly enhance the passing game. The Broncos frequently use 12 and 13 personnel sets, and having more reliable pass-catchers would keep defenses guessing, rather than telegraphing their plays.
Last season, the team relied on players like Marcedes Lewis and Lucas Krull at tight end, highlighting the need for an infusion of talent. Both Goedert and Njoku bring a wealth of experience and are proven threats in the passing game. They could complement Engram rather than replace him, creating a formidable tight end trio.
Goedert's 11 touchdown receptions for the Eagles last season and Njoku's nine touchdowns over the past two years showcase their ability to find the end zone. Signing one of these players would not only bolster the roster but also signal to the league that the Broncos are committed to strengthening their team for a serious championship push.
