The Denver Broncos have officially waived veteran offensive lineman Calvin Throckmorton, marking another chapter in what’s been a winding NFL journey for the 29-year-old.
Throckmorton first entered the league as an undrafted free agent out of Oregon in 2020, landing with the New Orleans Saints. He didn’t just stick around-he earned his way onto the active roster by 2021 after signing a futures deal, a testament to his work ethic and versatility along the interior line. The Saints saw enough in him to bring him back on a one-year extension heading into 2023, but he was let go at the end of that preseason.
From there, it’s been a bit of a league-wide tour. The Carolina Panthers picked him up off waivers, and he went on to appear in nine games during the 2023 season before being waived again. The Tennessee Titans were next to give him a look, claiming him shortly after his release from Carolina.
In 2024, Throckmorton signed on with the Broncos, and while he didn’t lock down a permanent role on the active roster, he did enough to stick around. He returned to Denver again in 2025, bouncing between the practice squad and the main roster. This season, he suited up in nine games for the Broncos, providing depth and flexibility across the offensive front.
While Throckmorton hasn’t been a long-term fixture for any one team, his ability to stay in the league for six seasons-despite going undrafted-is no small feat. He’s carved out a role as a reliable depth piece, the kind of player coaches value for his experience and readiness to step in when needed.
Now back on the waiver wire, Throckmorton could draw interest from teams looking to bolster their offensive line depth heading into the stretch run. He’s shown he can adapt quickly to new systems and fill in when called upon-traits that don’t always show up in the box score but matter plenty in NFL locker rooms.
