The Denver Broncos could be staring down some significant changes on their coaching staff this offseason - and those changes might hit the quarterback room first.
Quarterbacks coach and offensive pass game coordinator Davis Webb is firmly on the radar for multiple NFL teams looking to fill top coaching roles. According to reports, Webb already completed a virtual interview for the Las Vegas Raiders' head coaching vacancy and is scheduled for a second interview today. That’s a strong signal of serious interest from the Raiders, and Webb is reportedly viewed as a legitimate contender for the job.
But the Raiders aren’t the only team circling. The Buffalo Bills have also lined up an interview with Webb, adding another layer of intrigue to his offseason.
For Denver, this could have a direct impact on the development of rookie quarterback Bo Nix. Webb has been instrumental in guiding Nix through his first NFL season, and losing that continuity so early in the young quarterback’s career would be no small thing.
Webb, a former NFL quarterback himself, made a quick transition into coaching and has already earned a reputation as a rising star in the league's coaching ranks. His understanding of the quarterback position, combined with his ability to connect with players, has made him a valuable asset for Denver - and an attractive candidate for teams in search of fresh leadership.
Meanwhile, on the defensive side of the ball, assistant head coach and defensive pass game coordinator Jim Leonhard has also been a name to watch. He was reportedly a top candidate for the New York Giants’ defensive coordinator position, but the Giants ultimately opted to hire Dennard Wilson instead.
That hasn’t been Leonhard’s only suitor. Both the Dallas Cowboys and Green Bay Packers reportedly showed interest in him before making their own hires. While Leonhard didn’t land one of those jobs this time around, his stock continues to rise.
And here’s where it gets even more interesting for Denver: if current defensive coordinator Vance Joseph ends up landing a head coaching job elsewhere, Leonhard would be a logical internal candidate to step into that role. There’s been no confirmation yet on whether Joseph will get a second interview with any team, but that situation could evolve quickly.
The Broncos are coming off a season that featured flashes of promise and a clear investment in youth - both on the field and on the sidelines. But with multiple coaches drawing interest from around the league, this offseason could test the stability of Sean Payton’s staff. If Webb and Leonhard depart, Denver will need to find replacements who can maintain - or elevate - the developmental trajectory of a team still shaping its identity.
For now, the Broncos will wait and watch as the coaching carousel spins. But make no mistake: these interviews could have ripple effects that stretch well beyond the sideline.
