Bo Nix Sends Clear Message As Broncos Criticism Keeps Growing

Bo Nix urges focus and resilience amidst rising scrutiny, as the Broncos prioritize offensive improvement to align with Super Bowl aspirations.

Bo Nix isn’t spending much time on the outside chatter, and after another uneven outing, that’s probably the right place for his attention to stay.

The Broncos quarterback has become a magnet for opinions around the league. Some fans see a winner who gets the job done, even when the offense isn’t exactly humming. Others think Nix is leaving too much on the field, checking the ball down too often and helping Denver miss out on points.

That debate only got louder after the Broncos’ 24-14 loss to the 49ers this past weekend, a game that left Denver at 2-2 heading into Wednesday’s practice.

Asked how he handles the constant reaction that follows every game, Nix kept his answer pointed toward the people inside the building.

“For me, it’s very simple. Obviously, you don’t want to listen to too many things or too much of the noise.

It’s not going to do anything for you. But at the same time you want to make sure you’re listening to your coaches or teammates and the people that are actually collectively trying to make you better and understand a little bit more of what’s going on,” Bo Nix said.

He made the point even more directly a moment later.

“For me, it’s all about who you’re giving your attention to, who you’re listening to. I think there’s something really valuable about tuning out the noise and not listening to all the noise and the distractions. If you’re not careful that’s just what they become is just distractions,” Nix said.

That’s a quarterback making it clear where his focus lies: coaches, teammates, and the Broncos’ own work, not the opinions swirling around him.

Still, the issues in Denver go beyond one player’s ability to ignore criticism. There’s plenty for the offense to clean up, and it needs to happen quickly if a season carrying Super Bowl expectations is going to stay on track.

Sean Payton's Pat Surtain Update Should Relieve Broncos Fans

The Broncos got a meaningful bit of news on Pat Surtains ankle injury this week, with Sean Payton saying he does not expect the star cornerback to land on injured reserve. Surtain is still unlikely to suit up in Week 5, but the tone of the update suggests Denver believes the issue is short-term rather than something that will push one of its most important defenders out for an extended stretch.

For a team that leans heavily on Surtains presence in the secondary, that matters. He has already been one of Denvers most reliable players this season, and the Broncos are hoping to have him back within three weeks as they try to keep the defense on track without its top cover man. The exact return date is still uncertain, but for now the outlook appears much better than the worst-case scenario. [Read more 🡒]

Broncos Trade Chip Just Got More Interesting After Lions' Defensive Mess

The Lions defensive issues have put a spotlight on their secondary, and the conversation has already drifted toward possible fixes. One idea floated by ESPNs Ben Solak points back to Denver, where cornerback Riley Moss has quietly become a name worth monitoring as the Broncos weigh how much value he might carry on the trade market.

Moss is only 26 and was a third-round pick, the kind of young defender a team would prefer to keep unless the return is meaningful. For Detroit, the appeal is obvious given the early-season struggles on that side of the ball, but any attempt to pry him loose would likely take a sizable draft haul and that is where the real question begins. Sean Payton Suddenly Faces A Broncos Decision Fans Will Debate

Sean Paytons offensive setup is suddenly back in the spotlight, and not because of a big box-score breakthrough or a new injury report. Former Broncos receiver Brandon Stokley reported that Payton might take over play-calling again starting in Week 5, a claim later backed by Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, who said his group confirmed the change. It is the kind of adjustment that can ripple through a coaching staff, especially for a team still trying to settle on its identity on offense.

But the picture inside the building sounds less settled than the rumor mill suggests. A Broncos source pushed back on the idea that the organization was aligned on making the switch, saying the room did not appear unified and that it did not look that way in practice. Payton, for his part, has tried to keep the focus on the details of each snap rather than the public fascination with who is holding the call sheet, which leaves this as one of those Broncos questions worth watching closely.
