Adam Thielen is calling it a career after 13 seasons in the NFL-a journey that started as a long shot and ended with a résumé most wide receivers can only dream of.
The veteran wideout announced his retirement on Wednesday, capping off a career that began as an undrafted rookie out of Minnesota State in 2013 and wrapped up with the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2025. In between, Thielen carved out a legacy built on grit, consistency, and elite route running.

His rise began in Minnesota, where Denver Broncos general manager George Paton-then the Vikings’ assistant GM-played a key role in bringing Thielen aboard. That connection nearly led to a reunion in 2023 when Denver showed interest in signing him during free agency. But Thielen ultimately chose Carolina, where he spent three seasons before finishing his career in Pittsburgh.
At 35, Thielen walks away from the game with the respect of teammates, coaches, and fans alike. He was never the flashiest receiver on the field, but few were as dependable.
