Tyler Seguin found an unusual rehab partner this summer: Micah Parsons.
The Stars forward said Thursday that he and the Green Bay Packers pass rusher worked through their torn ACL recoveries together, a side-by-side comeback that linked two stars from different sports while both tried to get back on the field and ice.
Seguin was skating as Dallas opened training camp on Thursday. Parsons, meanwhile, is still waiting to return after being placed on injured reserve to start the season, leaving him out for at least three more games.
The Packers have felt his absence. Since Parsons was injured last winter, Green Bay has gone 0-6 including the playoffs.
For Seguin, the return to camp marks another step in a stretch that has been interrupted repeatedly. He has played only 47 games over the past two seasons, first going through hip surgery early in the 2024-25 campaign and then knee surgery last season. Even so, he made it back for the 2025 playoffs and put up four goals and eight points in 18 games.
The 34-year-old centre is now trying to keep himself on the ice for a full season as he finishes the final year of an eight-year deal carrying a $9.85 million average annual value.
Before the injury issues hit, Seguin had 17 points in 27 games last season and had been one of Dallas’ most reliable finishers for a long run. He has spent 13 seasons with the Stars, including three straight years over the 20-goal mark before the last two seasons were disrupted.
His career résumé still carries the big numbers. Drafted second overall by the Boston Bruins in 2010, Seguin has reached 30 goals five times in 16 NHL seasons, with a career-high 40 goals for Dallas in 2017-18.
The Stars also have Jason Robertson and captain Jamie Benn, who signed one-year deals this summer.
