The Dallas Stars now know their first test of the 2026-27 regular season.
On Wednesday, the team announced it will open at home against the St. Louis Blues on Friday, October 2, with puck drop scheduled for 7:00 p.m. CT at American Airlines Center.
That gives Dallas an immediate Central Division matchup to start the year, and it is only the second confirmed date on the club’s upcoming calendar. The first came earlier, when the NHL announced the Stars will take on the defending Western Conference champion Vegas Golden Knights on February 20 in the Navy Federal Credit Union Stadium Series at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, home of the NFL’s Dallas Cowboys.
Dallas and St. Louis won’t be strangers by the time the opener arrives. The two division rivals are also set to meet twice in the preseason, giving both sides an early chance to get a feel for one another before the games count for real.
There’s recent history here, too. The October 2 game will be the first season-opening meeting between the Stars and Blues since 2023, when Dallas beat St. Louis 2-1 in a shootout to begin that campaign.
And if recent results are any guide, Dallas has had the upper hand in this matchup. The Stars have won seven of their last eight games against the Blues, including three in a row.
For now, this is the first clear glimpse of how Dallas’ path into the season will begin, with the rest of the schedule expected to be released later this week.
