Stars Fans Get A Meaningful Night To Rally Around Together

Join the Dallas Stars as they unite hockey and hope in their empowering fight against cancer this Tuesday night.

The Dallas Stars will turn their Oct. 13 game against the Colorado Avalanche at American Airlines Center into their annual Hockey Fights Cancer Night, pairing a night of hockey with a full slate of community-focused efforts.

Hockey Fights Cancer is a joint initiative of the NHL and NHLPA that works to raise money for cancer research, build year-round connections through special events and storytelling, and encourage fans to learn about cancer risk factors and get screened when appropriate. The Stars said they are also working locally with Baylor Scott & White Health to push the message that regular screenings matter, because the earlier you find cancer, the more power you have to fight it.

The night will include several activations around the arena and during the game. Dallas coaches and members of the broadcast team will wear Hockey Fights Cancer pins and ties. Fans can also make “I’m Fighting For” cards at the fan center outside section 113, writing in the name of someone meaningful to them and sharing the message on social media with #StarsFightCancer.

The club will also distribute community tickets presented by Ticketmaster, with 150 tickets donated to the Visiting Nurse Association of Texas, Clayton Dabney for Kids with Cancer and Wipe Out Kids’ Cancer.

Through the Dallas Stars Foundation, fans will have a few ways to support the cause. Autographed lavender Hockey Fights Cancer jerseys will be available through an auction at DallasStars.com/JerseyAuction, while autographed Hockey Fights Cancer-themed mystery pucks will be sold at the fan center outside section 113. Proceeds from the jersey auction, the mystery puck sales and the Dallas Stars Foundation 50/50 Raffle presented by Higginbotham Insurance will benefit The V Foundation and .

The funding is set to support innovative pediatric cancer research in Texas through the V Foundation for Cancer Research. For VNA, the money will go toward VNA Children’s Haven, which provides specialized care for children with life-limiting illnesses and support for their families across 16 counties in North Texas.

The Stars will also welcome cancer survivor Kaylin Lee, 5, a HopeKid who is now cancer free after being diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. Lee recently rang the bell on Sept. 23 and will attend morning skate to meet the team before ringing the bell at center ice for the game.

“Kaylin is a bright, joyful 5-year-old B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (B-ALL) survivor from North Texas,” said Sophia Lee, mother of Kaylin. “At just 3 years old, Kaylin began a journey of over two years of cancer treatment. Facing hospital stays, countless procedures, and difficult side effects with an incredible strength that inspired everyone around her.”

“Kaylin just finished her last chemo in September and rang the bell to celebrate a milestone her family had prayed for since the day she was diagnosed. Today, Kaylin is cancer-free and gets to simply be a kid again.

She loves music, learning, and making people smile! Her journey is a testament to the resilience of a child, the power of a community, and the hope that carries families through their darkest days.

She is especially excited for this opportunity because watching Inside Out sparked her curiosity about ice hockey and made her eager to learn more about the exciting sport!”

Stars May Have Found The Response Their Slumping Attack Needed

The Stars got exactly the kind of reset they were looking for with a 5-0 win over the Sharks, snapping out of a brief stretch in which the offense had gone quiet. After two games without much scoring, Dallas looked more like itself by keeping the game simple, spending more time in the offensive zone and tilting the ice in its favor from the start.

San Jose was already shorthanded without Macklin Celebrini, but Dallas did far more than take advantage of a thin lineup. The Stars controlled the game territorially and played with a much better edge in the details, winning battles and creating traffic instead of trying to force perfect looks, a formula that may be worth carrying forward if this attack wants to stay on track.
