The Dallas Stars have inked a promising deal with defenseman Jack Anderson, securing him on a two-year, entry-level contract set to kick off in the 2026-27 season. Before that, Anderson will wrap up this season with the AHL’s Texas Stars under an amateur tryout contract, giving him a taste of the professional game.
Hailing from St. Louis, Missouri, Anderson just capped off an impressive collegiate career.
He spent his final year at Michigan Tech, where he truly shined, notching 11 goals and 24 points over 39 games. This was a significant leap from his previous three years at Lindenwood University, where he was primarily a shutdown defender, tallying just four goals and 25 points.
Recognized for his stellar play, Anderson earned the title of CCHA Defensive Defenseman of the Year and was named to the All-CCHA First Team. His achievements off the ice were just as notable, as he secured a spot on the CCHA All-Academic Team.
At 23, Anderson's offensive surge, combined with his ability to log over 25 minutes a game, caught the attention of NHL scouts. Standing at 6-foot-6, Anderson's physical presence is undeniable, but it's his newfound confidence and scoring ability that make him a standout prospect.
Despite not being drafted into the NHL, Anderson's journey is one of perseverance. He honed his skills with the NAHL’s El Paso Rhinos and spent much of his junior career with the CarShield program in St.
Louis. Now, he's poised to bring his talents to the Texas Stars, adding depth and size to their defensive lineup.
While the path to the NHL is never guaranteed, Anderson's potential makes him a player to watch. He's currently the only college signing for the Stars this season, but he's part of a growing group of minor-league defensemen set for the 2026-27 roster. Keep an eye on this young blueliner as he takes the next steps in his promising career.
