Golden State Warriors fans will have to wait a bit longer to see Stephen Curry back in action. The star guard is set to miss another five games due to a runner’s knee injury, according to NBA insiders. Curry, who hasn’t played since January 30, is dealing with an unpredictable recovery process.
In an in-game interview against the Los Angeles Lakers, Curry described the challenge of his recovery. "It’s kind of unpredictable how it’ll heal.
It’s going to be a little longer. Right now, with this one, it’s about each day, can you stack good days?"
he shared. Curry remains hopeful for a return soon, eager to get back on the court.
This season, Curry has been a powerhouse, playing in 39 games and averaging 27.2 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 4.8 assists. His shooting stats are as impressive as ever, with 46.8% from the field, 39.1% from three-point range, and a stellar 93.1% from the free-throw line.
Currently, the Warriors sit ninth in the Western Conference standings, which would place them in the NBA play-in tournament if the season ended today. After their 2022 championship win against the Boston Celtics, the team has struggled to advance past the second round of the playoffs.
Curry emphasized the importance of staying in shape and strengthening his body during this recovery period. "Once I get back on the court, it’s a little bit of a pain tolerance thing. But it’s just something you don’t want lingering because it can get worse," Curry explained.
In a notable trade deadline move, the Warriors sent Jonathan Kuminga and Buddy Hield to the Atlanta Hawks in exchange for Kristaps Porzingis. However, All-Star forward Jimmy Butler is out for the season with a torn ACL, and Porzingis has only appeared in three games with the team, leaving the Warriors outside the championship conversation for now.
Curry, a two-time MVP and one-time Finals MVP, has spent his entire career with the Warriors. As the NBA’s all-time leader in three-pointers, he boasts career averages of 24.8 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 6.3 assists per game. The basketball icon turns 38 on March 14, and fans are eagerly anticipating his return to the court.
