The chase ended Monday night when Cooper Flagg’s most coveted rookie card finally surfaced, and it did so in a way that instantly turned a $515 break spot into a potential seven-figure windfall.
RhodyBreakers, the card-break arm of Baseball Cards of Rhode Island in North Kingstown, Rhode Island, pulled the 1-of-1 Topps Chrome Update NBA Debut Patch Autograph during a live stream. The person who won the spot reportedly paid $515, and once he called into the stream to react to what had just happened, the emotion came through right away.
“This is why I’ve done this so long with y’all,” he said. “Man, I’m emotional, man.”
What gives the card its weight is the patch inside it. The piece was taken from the jersey Flagg wore in the first half of his NBA debut on Oct. 22, 2025, and that jersey sold for $1 million at auction earlier this year.
Flagg signed the card at Fanatics Fest last month and said he was “a little nervous” before signing it. He also told the person who might end up owning it to keep it, saying it would “gain value as I go through my career.”
The card turning up in New England only adds to the story. It was found roughly four hours from Newport, Maine, where Flagg grew up, giving the pull a kind of close-to-home symmetry for a player whose path from a small town in Maine to the No. 1 overall pick and Rookie of the Year is already part of his story.
The offers have come fast. The card has already drawn multiple bids of at least $1 million, including one public offer of $2 million.
Goldin Auctions founder Ken Goldin has also put forward a $1.5 million cash advance before the card even hits auction. The previous high-water mark for a Flagg card was $366,000, and a comparable Paul Skenes debut patch brought $1.11 million.
Dallas is in the mix too, but not with cash. The Mavericks’ offer includes 32 years of lower-level season tickets, a signed game-worn jersey, a postgame photo with Flagg, a private trophy shoot, a facility tour, a team meet-and-greet, a private AAC experience for 10 guests, and a road trip to see Dallas play Boston.
Now that the card has been found, the only thing left is the decision that comes next.
