Cooper Flagg Stuns Jimmy Fallon Audience With Unexpected New York Twist

Severe storms in New York disrupt Cooper Flaggs anticipated TV debut and leave the Dallas Mavericks travel plans in limbo.

The Dallas Mavericks are set to take on the Brooklyn Nets on Tuesday, but Mother Nature might have other plans. After their matchup with the Indiana Pacers on Sunday, the Mavericks decided to stay put in Indiana due to severe weather expected to hit New York. While the game is still on the schedule, rookie sensation Cooper Flagg’s planned appearance on the Jimmy Fallon show has been thrown into uncertainty.

Flagg, who was supposed to charm audiences on Monday night during the Mavericks’ New York trip, had his appearance canceled. The team’s delay in Indiana, as reported by Mike Curtis of The Dallas Morning News, meant missing out on the spotlight.

Whether Flagg will get another shot at late-night TV remains to be seen. With the Mavericks having already made their Madison Square Garden visit, this trip was their only chance to face the Nets in Brooklyn.

Flagg’s potential TV appearance underscores his rising star status in the NBA. The top pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, he's a leading contender for Rookie of the Year, with Charlotte Hornets’ Kon Knueppel as his main competition.

Currently, Flagg is nursing a foot injury and hasn’t hit the court since the All-Star break. Before the setback, he played in 49 games, logging over 34 minutes per contest.

His stats are impressive for a rookie: 20.4 points, 6.6 rebounds, 4.1 assists, and 1.2 steals per game. He’s shooting 48.2% from the field, 30.2% from beyond the arc, and 80.4% from the free-throw line.

The Mavericks, sitting at 20-36 and 12th in the Western Conference, managed to break a 10-game losing streak with their victory over the Pacers. Now, they’ll have to navigate both the weather and their schedule as they look to build on that win.
