Von Miller is heading into his 15th NFL season with a new address and, in his mind, a team that can make a real push. He has signed with the Dallas Cowboys, and according to ESPN’s Peter Schrager, the decision came down to belief in what Dallas is trying to build.

That confidence mirrors the way Miller approached free agency in 2025, when he signed with the Washington Commanders and publicly believed they were set up to contend for a Super Bowl. That call didn’t land the way he hoped, while the Seattle Seahawks - his other option at the time - ended up winning it all.
This time, Miller is betting on Dallas. The Cowboys have missed the playoffs in each of the last two seasons, and while they were in the bracket every year from 2021 through 2023, they never got beyond the Divisional Round. Turning that into a true contender’s leap will take more than one veteran pass rusher, but Dallas clearly believes it can be on the rise in 2026.
Miller’s 2025 season with Washington showed he still has plenty left. In 17 games, he recorded 26 tackles, 15 quarterback hits and nine sacks. Those numbers would have put him atop the Cowboys in sacks and tackles for loss.
Now he arrives in Dallas with a resume that speaks for itself: 138.5 career sacks in 203 games, eight Pro Bowls, three All-Pro nods and two Super Bowl rings. He may be in the later stage of his career, but the Cowboys are counting on him to make a real impact on defense.
