Tom Brady’s outfit, not his call of Cowboys-Commanders, became the main event in Arlington.
FOX rolled out its No. 1 broadcast team for the NFC East matchup - Kevin Burkhardt, Brady, Erin Andrews and Tom Rinaldi - but the camera had a hard time ignoring what Brady was wearing. The seven-time Super Bowl champion showed up in a white and tan shirt, a dark striped tie and high-waisted tan pants, a combination that instantly took over the conversation online.
By the time the first freeze-frame hit social media, the jokes were already in motion. Chad Fisher fired off, “Tom Brady dressed like a zookeeper.”
He added another line soon after: “Tom Brady looks like he just got back from a meeting about a Safari.” Kenny5Alive jumped in with “We bought a zoo…” Tom Downey asked the question a lot of viewers were thinking: “What is Tom Brady wearing?”
Frantz skipped the setup entirely: “What in the hell is Tom Brady wearing.”
Brady’s interest in fashion has been building for a while. He’s leaned harder into it since the Gucci runway in Times Square, and earlier this year he went leather-on-leather for Gucci, saying the pants felt like a uniform.
This time, though, the look was all khaki and tie, with the pants sitting high enough to dominate the frame. The booth still sounded like Brady.
The outfit just made sure nobody was talking only about the broadcast.
The reaction came on a day when the game itself mattered too. Dallas and Washington both entered at 0-1, which was the original headline before the wardrobe took over.
But Brady has already heard the noise around his broadcasting career, and he’s called much of it clickbait. He told Sports Business Journal that critics “have no idea what they’re really glomming onto.”
Before kickoff, Brady also posted an Audemars Piguet on Instagram with “season LFG.” The watch drew attention, but it was the pants that traveled fastest.
The same man who modeled leather pants and said they now live in his closet showed up in tan that sat high at the waist and sent FOX viewers into a spiral. He’s not apologizing for the style turn.
He’s just not escaping the zookeeper jokes either.
