Stefon Diggs has never been shy, and he isn’t starting now.
On his YouTube page, the unsigned free agent made a blunt claim: there isn’t a better WR2 than him. That kind of line is bound to get a reaction, especially with the Cowboys’ receiver room sitting in the middle of a clean offseason and George Pickens already in place after signing the franchise tag and showing up for mandatory minicamp.
If Dallas is sorting things by depth chart, CeeDee Lamb is WR1 and Pickens is WR2. Diggs, though, clearly thinks he belongs in that conversation - and maybe at the top of it.
The problem is that plenty of receiver tandems would push back. The Rams have Puka Nacua and Davante Adams.
The Bengals roll out Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins. Even the defending champion Seahawks have Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Cooper Kupp, a pairing that would have something to say about Diggs’ claim.
Pickens has the cleanest answer of all. In 2025, he earned his first All-Pro nod and posted 93 catches for 1,429 yards and nine touchdowns. That’s the kind of season that gives a player real leverage in any WR1-WR2 debate, and in Dallas, there’s a strong case that Pickens is more than just a sidekick.
Lamb has already made that point himself. Before Pickens had even taken a real snap, Lamb said there was no “1A or 1B,” calling both receivers No. 1 options.
At the time, it sounded bold. Looking back, it fits the numbers.
Diggs’ own 2025 line doesn’t quite match the force of his statement. The Patriot WR finished with 85 receptions, 1,013 receiving yards and four touchdowns. He also wasn’t as much of a factor in the playoffs, which only makes the declaration harder to square.
None of that means Diggs is suddenly out of the league. He still looks like a receiver who can help a team. But with no contract in hand, the timing of this particular proclamation feels a little rich.
If the debate is narrowed to WR2s - especially when comparing the Patriots and Cowboys - Dallas has the stronger answer. Respect to Kayshon Boutte and Diggs, but Pickens has the edge here.

Cowboys Fans Are Losing It Over This Dak Offseason Photo
A viral offseason image of Dak Prescott has been making the rounds online, and it has plenty of Cowboys fans doing a double take. The picture shows Prescott looking dramatically bigger than usual, the kind of photo that can light up social media in a hurry when a franchise quarterback is trying to reset the tone for a new season.
Prescott has already made clear what he wants the standard to be in 2026, saying the playoffs are the minimum goal after Dallas missed out the last two years. There is still a long way to go before the real test arrives, but the Cowboys will get an immediate stage when they open against the Giants on Sunday Night Football in Week 1. [Read more 🡒]
Cowboys Suddenly Pulled Into A Dak Rumor That Feels Ridiculous
A fresh quarterback rumor has nudged the Cowboys into an uncomfortable spot, even if the fit looks shaky on paper. The chatter centers on a former high draft pick who has already seen his role change in Indianapolis, where the Colts made a different move at quarterback and left the door open for plenty of speculation around what comes next.
For Dallas, the timing makes the whole thing feel more like noise than a real possibility. Dak Prescott is still the starter, and the Cowboys already have depth behind him, which makes a trade for another quarterback hard to justify unless the market shifts in a hurry. Still, once a team gets mentioned in a rumor like this, it tends to linger until the next move somewhere else finally clears it up. [Read more 🡒]
Cowboys Receiver Debate Just Took An Unexpected Turn
Stefon Diggs is suddenly back on the market after his release by the New England Patriots, and with training camps only two weeks away, his next landing spot has become one of the more interesting questions around the league. The veteran receiver has also been making a case for himself in a way that naturally invites comparison, especially for teams trying to sort out where he would fit in an already crowded passing game.
For Dallas, the answer starts with CeeDee Lamb at the top of the chart and George Pickens right behind him, which makes any Diggs conversation more about fit than need. Pickens has already established himself with a huge season and a first Pro Bowl nod, while Lamb remains the clear centerpiece, so the Cowboys would have to decide whether Diggs is the kind of addition who changes the room or simply adds another name to an already complicated debate.
