Michael Irvin Just Turned Cowboys Eagles Week Personal

In true competitive spirit, Michael Irvin stirs the rivalry pot as the Cowboys and Eagles gear up for a high-stakes face-off on Monday night.

Michael Irvin came loaded for Philadelphia on Monday morning.

With kickoff of the Monday Night Football matchup between the Dallas Cowboys and Eagles closing in, the Cowboys legend used his appearance on NFL Network’s “Good Morning Football” to needle the Eagles crowd already gathered ahead of the game. He acknowledged what Philadelphia has accomplished recently, but made it clear he wasn’t impressed by the timing.

“I know we're out here amongst these enemies, but it's where we're going to do our best work,” Irvin said. “I love being in the land where every body hates you the most.”

He didn’t stop there.

“In Philadelphia, I know you guys just got in the Super Bowl business, I understand you just got in the Super Bowl business. But we been in the business!

We been in the business for a long time!” Irvin added.

“And we know how to win Super Bowls and we will get back starting tonight at the cost of the Eagles fans.”

That kind of talk was never going to land softly with Eagles fans, and it didn’t.

Irvin’s point was rooted in history: Dallas was winning Super Bowls long before Philadelphia won its first two in 2017 and 2024, and the Cowboys have three more overall. But the larger truth hanging over this game is a much colder one for Dallas. The franchise’s last title came in 1995, capping off a third championship in four years, and the decades since have been defined by frustration.

This season has delivered more of the same. The Cowboys entered 2026 with hope, only to run into the reality that this probably won’t be their year either. The revamped defense has been as bad, if not worse than it has been over the last two years, and the offense has started to sputter as well.

Philadelphia isn’t exactly rolling, either.

The Eagles are dealing with major questions after likely losing Jalen Hurts for the rest of the season because of blood clots in his lungs. That leaves Tanner McKee and possibly Joe Milton to carry the offense the rest of the way.

For this Week 7 game, Philadelphia is also without its top two wide receivers, with DeVonta Smith and Dontayvion Wicks both ruled out due to injury. Even so, Saquon Barkley is set to return, so the Eagles still have a serious threat in the backfield.

Of course, as shaky as Philadelphia looks, that doesn’t automatically make Dallas the safe bet. The Cowboys’ defense has been so poor this season that even a depleted Eagles offense wouldn’t guarantee anything. Given what both teams have shown so far, Monday night has the ingredients to get messy in a hurry.

CeeDee Lamb Just Gave Cowboys Fans Another Reason To Love This Rivalry

CeeDee Lamb did not leave much mystery about where he gets the most satisfaction. In a SportsCenter interview, the Cowboys star said beating the Philadelphia Eagles at Lincoln Financial Field is his favorite NFL matchup, and it is easy to see why that rivalry keeps grabbing his attention.

Lamb backed up the sentiment with production in Dallas 38-21 win over Philadelphia, catching two touchdown passes in the victory. He has been central to the Cowboys offense all season as well, with 53 receptions for 651 yards and six touchdowns through seven games, but the Eagles game clearly still carries a little extra edge. Troy Aikman's Emotional Cowboys-Eagles Moment Meant More Than Fans Realized

The Monday Night Football broadcast carried a heavier tone for anyone who knew David Moulton, the longtime sports radio personality whose work around ESPNs NFL coverage made him a familiar presence behind the scenes. Moulton died after a six-year battle with cancer, and his passing was confirmed by his wife, Julie, prompting tributes from colleagues who had come to value not just his professionalism, but the friendship he built with them over the years.

Among those remembering him were Troy Aikman and Joe Buck, whose words on the Cowboys-Eagles telecast reflected how much Moulton meant to the people around the production. For Dallas fans used to hearing that booth throughout the season, it was a reminder that these games are shaped by more than what happens on the field, with some of the most meaningful moments taking place far from the spotlight.
