Dak Prescott’s Frustration Boils Over as Cowboys Defense Falters Again
The Dallas Cowboys are staring down the barrel of another disappointing December, and the frustration is starting to spill over - not just from inside the locker room, but from voices close to the franchise as well.
Terrence Parsons, brother of former Cowboys star Micah Parsons, didn’t hold back on social media after Dallas’ latest loss. With the team sitting at 6-6-1 and playoff hopes fading fast, Parsons sounded off on what he sees as a waste of quarterback Dak Prescott’s prime.
“We just wasting prime Dak Prescott with this weak a** defense lol we shouldn’t have paid a soul,” Terrence wrote on X.
That comment came with a suggestion: blow it up - at least on defense.
“Restart the defense around that D-line and the young guys we brought in. Anybody from previous regimes gotta go. Except 0.”
The “0” there is a likely nod to a specific player - but the message is clear: Terrence believes it’s time for a defensive reset in Dallas.
Prescott Is Producing, But It’s Not Enough
Terrence’s frustration isn’t coming out of nowhere. Statistically, Dak Prescott is having one of the best seasons of his career.
He currently leads the NFL in passing yards with 3,637 and has thrown 26 touchdowns. The Cowboys’ offense as a whole is humming - first in the league in passing yards per game (275.5) and total offensive yards per game (394.4).
But the other side of the ball? That’s where things fall apart.
Dallas ranks 29th in the league in yards allowed per game, giving up a staggering 378.6. That lack of resistance was on full display in their 44-30 loss to the Detroit Lions on Thursday night - a game that dropped their playoff probability to just 7%, per NFL Network.
The team’s defensive struggles have only been magnified by the success of a familiar face elsewhere.
Life After Micah Parsons
Micah Parsons, now with the Green Bay Packers, has helped turn his new team into one of the league’s stingiest defenses. The Packers are 8-3-1 and rank fourth in total defense, allowing just 284.8 yards per game.
Parsons has been a massive part of that. He leads the team with 12.5 sacks - third-most in the NFL - and his presence has clearly elevated Green Bay’s defensive ceiling. The Packers have 32 sacks as a team, compared to the Cowboys’ 29, which ranks 14th in the league.
It’s a stark contrast that only adds to the sting in Dallas. The Cowboys let go of a generational defensive talent, and they’re feeling the effects.
“The Guys Are Pissed Off”
The frustration isn’t just coming from the outside. Inside the Cowboys’ locker room, emotions are running high - and Prescott isn’t hiding it.
“The guys are pissed off right now,” he said after the loss to Detroit.
And he wants that anger to stick around - not as a distraction, but as motivation.
“I hope it pisses people off the right way and we use it as fuel.”
Prescott also voiced his frustration with a controversial pass interference call against tight end Jake Ferguson, which stalled a key drive. It was one of several moments that left the quarterback visibly exasperated.
Still, there were bright spots on offense - namely CeeDee Lamb, who hauled in six catches for 121 yards, and George Pickens, who Prescott believes can return to form down the stretch.
Four Games to Find a Miracle
The Cowboys have four games left to try and salvage their season and avoid missing the playoffs for the second straight year. Next up: a December 14 matchup against the Minnesota Vikings - a game that suddenly feels like a must-win.
If Dallas is going to find a way to turn things around, it’s going to take more than Dak Prescott playing like an MVP candidate. The defense has to find its footing - and fast. Because right now, the clock is ticking on a season that started with promise and is threatening to end in frustration.
