Maxx Crosby didn’t exactly shut the door on the Dallas Cowboys.
In fact, his comments about Dak Prescott should give Dallas plenty to chew on after the NFL unveiled Prescott’s spot in the NFL Top 100 Players of 2026 list. Crosby was among the players featured in the clip discussing the Cowboys quarterback, and he made it clear he respects what Prescott brings every time he steps on the field.
"Every time he's out there, he's in command," Crosby said of Prescott, who landed at No. 31 on the list. "If you're a player or coach, you know how good he is.
He sees everything that's going on. He's the highest-paid quarterback for a reason."
That kind of praise lands well in Dallas, especially with the Crosby-to-Cowboys idea already back in circulation after Jerry Jones said he’s willing to do something big to improve the roster. The Cowboys have also already made a run at Crosby once before, only to come up short when the Baltimore Ravens ultimately killed the deal because of a failed physical.
Prescott’s rise on the list tells its own story. He jumped 48 spots from No. 79 a year ago, a climb that followed an injury-filled 2024.
Then he answered with a 2025 season that featured 4,552 passing yards and 30 touchdowns. Without Dallas’ rough defense, he likely would have been in the MVP discussion.
Crosby, for his part, has already recommitted to the Raiders since that aborted trade, but that doesn’t mean the possibility disappears. If Las Vegas keeps losing and Crosby gets frustrated again, a trade request wouldn’t be out of the question, especially with the Raiders rebuilding and another losing season in 2026 looking likely.
And if that moment comes, Jones has already signaled he’d be willing to pay up.
"My message simply is that I feel good enough about this thing to give up some of the future, if the opportunity comes up," Jones said.
Dallas has already shown interest once, and if the Cowboys are still in the playoff mix when the deadline arrives, there’s a strong chance they’d revisit the idea again.
