Jerry Jones Teases Cowboys' Interest in Maxx Crosby with Intriguing Comment

Jerry Jones weighs potential interest in Maxx Crosby while reinforcing the Cowboys' strategic focus on cost-effective roster improvements and defensive upgrades.

In typical Jerry Jones style, the Dallas Cowboys owner and GM is keeping the door slightly ajar when it comes to interest in Maxx Crosby. Speaking at an event in Arlington, Texas, Jones hinted at the team's current plans but left room for possibilities. “We’re pretty far down the road with our plans,” he noted, while not entirely dismissing the idea of pursuing Crosby.

Crosby, meanwhile, seemed to reaffirm his allegiance to the Raiders, posting on X, “Im (sic) A Raider. I’m Back,” late Wednesday. This comes after a whirlwind where the All-Pro edge rusher was traded to the Ravens, only for the deal to collapse due to concerns over his knee following a failed physical.

The Cowboys initially showed interest in Crosby before this trade saga unfolded. However, with Dallas now acquiring Rashan Gary from the Packers for a fourth-round pick, they may opt for a more budget-friendly approach to bolster their pass rush.

Dallas has been relatively quiet in the free agency market, with the additions of Gary and former Cardinals safety Jalen Thompson standing out as their major moves. This is in light of a defense that struggled mightily last season, leaving several gaps to fill.

Jones expressed optimism about the team’s direction, particularly on defense. “We have nowhere but up to go,” he said, emphasizing potential improvements on both sides of the ball. “That ought to get us with a better feeling come December.”

Reflecting on the free agency strategy, Jones feels content with the team’s financial and strategic decisions. “We’re within the boundaries of what we have available,” he explained, showing confidence in the trades and cap management thus far.
