Trysten Hill's Arrest and NFL Journey: A Closer Look
Trysten Hill, former defensive tackle for the Dallas Cowboys, found himself in legal trouble last Thursday in Ellis County, Texas. According to jail records, Hill was arrested and charged with assaulting a pregnant person and interfering with an emergency request for assistance.
The 28-year-old was booked at the Wayne McCollum Detention Center with a bond set at $3,500. Details about the incident remain sparse, including the identity of the alleged victim.
Hill's journey to the NFL began with promise. Drafted by the Cowboys in the second round in 2019, he was their top pick that year following a trade that sent their first-round selection to the Raiders for Amari Cooper. Hill's college career at UCF was notable, earning Second-team All-AAC honors in 2017, and he was the only player from the Knights’ program drafted in 2019.
However, Hill's NFL career didn't quite pan out as expected. Over four seasons with the Cowboys, he appeared in just 25 games, registering half a sack and 33 tackles. His tenure in Dallas ended in 2022 when he was waived after a lackluster performance.
The Arizona Cardinals saw potential in Hill, picking him up after his release. He managed to record a single sack and six tackles with the team. In 2023, the New England Patriots added Hill to their practice squad, where he played three games over three seasons before being released in 2024.
By 2025, Hill was without a team, and his recent arrest might further hinder any chances of returning to the NFL. Despite entering the league with considerable hype, his career never quite took off with the Cowboys, Cardinals, or Patriots. This latest incident could mark the end of Hill's professional football journey.
