Dez Bryant says the frightening weekend incident that landed him in handcuffs started with a driving dispute and escalated fast once police arrived.
The former Cowboys receiver said he got into it with two men he believed were driving recklessly, and the situation eventually moved into a parking lot, where the argument continued. Bryant said he knocked a phone out of one man’s hand during the exchange and claimed the man threatened him.
“He go to threatening me and basically saying, um, he’ll insinuate that he’ll, you know, he’ll shoot me or whatever,” Bryant said.
Bryant said he fired back with his own warning: “You pull that gun, I’m telling you right now, you better use it because if you don’t, I’m going to do something to you,” he recalled.
He also said no weapon came out before police showed up. “No, he didn’t pull a gun out on me,” Bryant said. Instead, he said the man used his phone to record him.
“I told him, you know, get the phone off me,” Bryant said. “So what I ended up doing is I knocked the phone out of his hand.”
Bryant said the man told him he would call police, and Bryant said he welcomed that because he believed the officers would sort out the alleged threat. When police arrived, though, he said things turned quickly. A responding officer drew a gun and ordered everyone to the ground.
“I was really more so concerned about my children, you know, looking at their dad, you know, being on the ground with a gun pointed at me,” Bryant said.
He said his girlfriend arrived with his two daughters and recorded the scene. Bryant said officers handcuffed the men, questioned them, and then released them with a citation. He also said the other men were allowed to leave.

Cowboys Just Got A Public Challenge With Their Season On The Line
Terry Bradshaw has put the Cowboys on notice, backing Jerry Jones and Dak Prescott while making it clear the next stretch has to turn the season around. Dallas is sitting at 2-4, and with the margin for error already thinning, the talk around this team has shifted from early-season frustration to a must-respond phase if it wants to stay in the playoff picture.
ESPNs Football Power Index still leaves some room for optimism, giving Dallas a strong shot to chase the NFC East and a better-than-even path to the postseason. But the confidence only matters if the Cowboys start backing it up, and the looming schedule offers little chance to ease into things as they try to steady a season that has already reached an important crossroads. Cowboys Fans Should Watch These Rising Prospects Very Closely
Week 8 offered a useful snapshot for Dallas fans tracking the next wave of draft talent, and a handful of college players made their case in a hurry. Jordan Ross, Caleb Hawkins, Kelley Jones, Rasheem Biles and Jamari Johnson all turned in performances that fit the kind of early scouting exercise the Cowboys have to keep doing if they want to stay ahead of roster needs in future drafts.
Ross flashed as a pass rusher, Hawkins and Jones kept building their resumes, and Biles continued to show why he belongs on the radar for a team always looking for impact help. Johnsons usage also stood out in Oregons expanded offense, a reminder that some of the most useful evaluations come well before a player is anywhere near draft day, especially when one of these names is already shaping up as a long-range watch item for 2028. Cowboys Get A Timely Secondary Boost Before A Huge Eagles Test
The Cowboys are getting some help in the back end at just the right time, with cornerback Cobie Durant set to return for the matchup with the Eagles. Durant has been out since Week 2 with a hamstring injury, and his presence gives Dallas a needed boost of depth and experience in a secondary that will be tested in a big divisional spot.
P.J. Locke is also back on the practice field as he works his way through a foot injury, but he will not be activated for the game. Even so, the Cowboys can at least see progress from a player they have been waiting on, and his eventual return could matter if Dallas needs more stability in the defensive backfield down the stretch.
