The Dallas Cowboys had their eyes on Las Vegas Raiders' defensive end Maxx Crosby, a standout talent who seemed momentarily available after a deal with the Baltimore Ravens fell through. Crosby's brief and rocky stint with the Ravens ended, bringing him back to Las Vegas and sparking interest from teams like the Cowboys, who had previously dangled a tempting offer of a first- and second-round pick along with defensive tackle Osa Odighizuwa.
While Cowboys owner Jerry Jones left the door slightly ajar for a potential pursuit of Crosby, he emphasized satisfaction with the team's current offseason strategy. This sentiment was echoed on Wednesday by ESPN's Adam Schefter, who shed light on Crosby's situation. According to Schefter, the Raiders' recent moves in free agency and changes in the coaching staff have given Crosby renewed optimism about staying in Las Vegas.
"If you’re Maxx Crosby and you truly embody the Raider spirit, why leave now when the team is assembling promising pieces that inspire more confidence than they have in recent memory?" Schefter noted.
Despite the swirling trade rumors, the most plausible scenario seems to be Crosby remaining a key part of the Raiders' lineup. The Raiders have consistently shown reluctance to part with Crosby, and with his renewed commitment to the team, it appears increasingly unlikely that they'll let him go.
