Dak Prescott is at least a name to watch as the Cowboys turn the page to Week 5.
After Dallas’ 34-30 win over the Houston Texans on Sunday, Calvin Watkins of The Dallas Morning News reported that Prescott’s throwing hand was wrapped. Watkins said it “seems fine,” but also noted that the wrap was “noticeable.”
“Dak Prescott has his right hand wrapped. It seems fine. But it’s noticeable,” Watkins said.
Prescott addressed it after the game and said he got “stepped on” and is fine aside from swelling, Watkins reported.
Right now, there doesn’t appear to be major alarm. Still, injuries can shift quickly once tests and follow-up become part of the picture, and the Cowboys are heading into a short week, which makes everything a little trickier.
Dallas plays on Thursday, so the team’s first injury report will come Monday afternoon. It’ll only be an estimation since the Cowboys won’t have a normal practice, but it should at least provide a first look at where Prescott stands.
And if the hand is the only issue, that would be a relief considering what he absorbed against Houston.
The Texans brought heat all afternoon. According to Pro Football Focus, Houston finished with 19 pressures, while Prescott was sacked three times and hit 12 times overall.
Will Anderson Jr., Danielle Hunter and former Cowboy Jadeveon Clowney accounted for 11 of those pressures and eight of the hits combined. Anderson alone registered five QB hits.
Prescott came out of a game that was as chaotic as it gets with a win, but it took a lot to get there.
The Cowboys spent stretches looking like they were headed for another bad loss before the offense and defense finally settled in. Then, late in the fourth quarter, it looked like Dallas might give it right back. Instead, Prescott helped guide the game-winning drive and leave Reliant Stadium with a 34-30 victory.
He was pleased with the result, but he made it clear the job is far from finished.
“There’s nothing like winning, and I wanna say it fixes all the problems but it doesn’t," Prescott said, per Patrik Walker of DallasCowboys.com.
"It makes you feel good, at least for a day or so. But at this point, you know, we got to turn the page and get ready for Thursday.
We can't sit here and have some winning hangover, so early in the season. It's no different than last week's loss.”
Dallas now has a short week to deal with, but the matchup ahead comes against a Tampa Bay team that is off to an 0-4 start and will be without Baker Mayfield.

Tony Romos Next Move Could Reopen A Cowboys Debate
Tony Romos split with CBS Sports leaves one of the leagues most recognizable voices back in the mix, even if his next step is still unclear. The move came after a July arrest, and Romo has said he plans to focus on his health and family before making any decision about what comes next. CBS has already settled on J.J. Watt as its lead analyst alongside Jim Nantz, so Romos path now shifts away from the booth and into whatever comes next off the air.
For Cowboys fans, the more interesting wrinkle is where this could lead in Dallas. Romo has long remained tied to the franchise that made him a household name, and any conversation about his future inevitably brings up the possibility of a front-office or advisory role. There is no official confirmation of anything along those lines, but if Romo does circle back to the Cowboys, it would reopen a familiar debate about how much the team should lean on a former quarterback whose influence still resonates around the organization. Cowboys Pulled Off A Comeback But Two Problems Still Loom
The Cowboys had to claw their way back against Houston, but they found enough late offense to leave Week 4 with a 34-30 win after a slow start and a brief stumble after losing the lead. The ending was the kind of response Dallas has been looking for, with the offense delivering a game-winning drive in the fourth quarter to finish off a game that never came easy.
CeeDee Lamb was the headliner, setting a franchise record with 17 catches for 189 yards and a touchdown, while Rashan Gary and Quinnen Williams each added sacks on the other side of the ball. Even with the win, the bigger picture was harder to ignore: the rushing attack never really got going, and the cornerback play was uneven enough to keep some questions alive despite the comeback. Jerry Jones Floats A Cowboys Schedule Twist Fans Will Notice
Jerry Jones used an appearance on 105.3 The Fan in Dallas to revisit one of the NFLs quieter schedule wrinkles, and he had a clear idea for what it could become. The Cowboys owner said he believes the league could eventually make the 17th game a permanent, geographically based rivalry matchup, turning an extra date on the calendar into something fans would recognize right away.
For Dallas, the appeal is obvious: a built-in regional test that would lean into local interest and make the schedule feel a little more personal. Jones pointed to possibilities like Cowboys-Texans, along with other rivalry-style pairings such as Eagles-Steelers, as the kind of format that could give the league added edge while keeping the extra game grounded in geography.
