Dak Prescott isn’t interested in soft-pedaling the goal for Dallas.
With the 2026 NFL season approaching, the Cowboys quarterback is leaning all the way into the kind of expectation that usually gets people nervous: a Super Bowl run. After what the team did in the offseason, Prescott made it clear he sees the championship as the target, not some distant fantasy.
During a recent interview, Prescott said he doesn’t understand why players would shy away from saying the quiet part out loud.
“Why are we hesitant to say that that’s what we’re playing for?” Prescott said, per Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated.
“I don’t know if it’s just getting older, having kids and blatantly not giving a f- what other people think, but if that’s what this is about, then why is anybody being hesitant about it? And why is it, honestly, such a big deal even saying it?
So my point is, let’s put it out there. Like, I’m a big manifester.
I wouldn’t be here in my life if I didn’t think I would be here, going back to being a little kid.”
He doubled down by tying that mindset to the way his life has unfolded so far.
“I mean, people ask me all the time. A lot of times they ask this question, [and] they expect a ‘No, not at all’-Did you ever expect your life to be like this?
And I go, Damn near to the smallest detail,” Prescott added. “Like, I’ve had cars that I’ve only got because I said I’d have them when I was 7 years old.
So to say I was going to be a Super Bowl champion and play like this, that’s also something I said. So why don’t I own that as much as I own other things?”
Dallas hasn’t been in the postseason since the 2023 season, and the path back will depend heavily on defensive improvement to help Prescott and the offense get there.
If the Cowboys do get back to the playoffs, the ceiling gets a lot more interesting from there. And for Prescott, that means the dream he’s been talking about since he was a kid is still sitting right in front of him.
