Training camp is about to put one Cowboys question front and center: what exactly does Dallas have at cornerback?
A lot of fans feel pretty good about the offseason overall. The Cowboys made real improvements, and for once there was a clear sense of effort and direction.
That’s enough to spark hope, even if nobody’s ready to start handing out guarantees. After getting burned too many times, the fan base is keeping the oven mitts on.
But once camp opens, the spotlight turns to the secondary, and specifically to the cornerback spot.
The obvious names in the mix right now are DaRon Bland, Shavon Revel, and Cobie Durant. Caleb Downs’ ability in nickel also matters, but for the purpose of sorting out the corners, the conversation starts with those three.
That doesn’t automatically mean the picture is settled, though. A depth chart can look tidy on paper and still leave plenty of doubt.
And that’s where the concern comes in. Cornerback was not really overhauled this offseason, at least not in a major way, even though the Cowboys’ defense last year was one of the worst in NFL history. That alone makes this a position worth watching closely.
There is, however, a reason for some optimism. Dallas brought in Christian Parker this offseason to run the defense, and his background is in the secondary.
The hope is that he can be the kind of coach who lifts the whole group, the way a video game upgrade boosts a player’s attributes. In that sense, he’s the cornerback suit.
That may be the cleanest explanation for why the Cowboys approached this area the way they did. They know how bad the defense was last season, and the flurry of changes over the past few months shows they understood the problem. Cornerback wasn’t ignored for no reason.

Cowboys May Have Found A New Defensive Cornerstone In Donovan Ezeiruaku
Donovan Ezeiruaku arrived in Dallas as the 44th overall pick in the 2025 draft, and by the time his rookie season settled in, he had already carved out a real role on a defense in transition.
