Cowboys Star Turpin Stuns Washington With One Jaw-Dropping Christmas Day Play

KaVontae Turpin delivered another highlight-reel moment in Washington, adding a pivotal spark to the Cowboys playoff push.

KaVontae Turpin’s Washington Magic Strikes Again in Cowboys’ Christmas Win

There’s something about Washington that brings out the best in KaVontae Turpin.

The Dallas Cowboys walked away from Northwest Stadium with a 30-23 win over the Washington Commanders on Christmas Day, pushing their record to 7-8-1. But in a game filled with playoff implications and pressure, it was Turpin-the Cowboys’ electric returner and increasingly dangerous receiver-who once again lit up the field in D.C.

Let’s set the scene: second quarter, Cowboys backed up at their own three-yard line. Dak Prescott moved the chains once, but soon found himself staring down a third-and-11 from the 14-yard line.

Not exactly ideal territory for a big shot. But then came a gift-Washington linebacker Frankie Luvu jumped offside, giving Prescott a free play.

That’s all the invitation Dak needed.

Prescott let it fly, and Turpin-wearing No. 9 and barely touched-blew past the secondary for an 86-yard touchdown. It was the kind of play that flips a game and silences a crowd. And it was classic Turpin: speed, timing, and a whole lot of swagger.

“Any time I try to get the ball in my hands, I try to remind everybody, try to show excitement to the fans,” Turpin said after the game. “That's me when I get the ball, so always try, and make a play.”

He’s not just talking-he’s backing it up.

This isn’t the first time Turpin has torched Washington on their home turf. Last season, he pulled off one of the most jaw-dropping plays of the year with a 99-yard punt return touchdown. That one started with a fumble, included a full 360 spin to shake a would-be tackler, and ended with Turpin hitting the jets and outrunning everyone to the house.

So yeah, when Turpin says he likes playing in Washington, he means it.

“I like playing here,” he said with a grin. “I did something here last year, and I did something here this year, so one of my favorite places to play.”

Hard to argue with that.

For Dallas, the win keeps their postseason hopes alive heading into the final week. One game remains-on the road at MetLife Stadium against the New York Giants. It’s one last shot to finish the season strong.

And for Turpin? It’s one more chance to remind everyone just how dangerous he can be with the ball in his hands.
