The Cowboys are getting healthier-and just in time.
After a tough Week 14 loss to the Detroit Lions, Dallas is looking to regroup ahead of a primetime clash with the Minnesota Vikings. And while the scoreboard didn’t go their way last Thursday, the injury report is finally trending in a direction that should have fans feeling a little more optimistic.
Let’s start with the potential return of some key names: Trevon Diggs, Tyler Guyton, and Jadeveon Clowney are all in the mix to suit up in Week 15. But before anyone gets too excited, there’s still one major hurdle-they’ve got to log practice time at The Star this week.
Cowboys offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer gave a cautiously optimistic update when asked about the trio’s status.
“Yeah, we’ll see,” Schottenheimer said. “I think Diggs should be good to go with practice and then, we’ll find out a little bit more over the next 48 hours with Guyton and Clowney.”
Diggs’ potential return is especially noteworthy. His absence has been felt in the Cowboys’ secondary, and getting one of the league’s top ballhawks back on the field would be a major boost against a Vikings offense that can stretch the field. Guyton, meanwhile, brings much-needed depth and size to the offensive line, and Clowney-if cleared-adds another layer of pressure to a Dallas pass rush that’s already among the league’s most disruptive.
But let’s not forget the biggest name on the watch list: CeeDee Lamb.
The All-Pro wideout exited the Detroit game in the third quarter after a hard hit to the head and was ruled out almost immediately. He’s currently in concussion protocol, and while that process can be unpredictable, the early signs are encouraging.
“Yeah, he’s doing good,” Schottenheimer said. “Talked to him over the weekend. He’s progressing nicely and again, hopefully things all work out like we expect.”
Cowboys COO Stephen Jones echoed that sentiment during a radio appearance, offering a more detailed look at Lamb’s recovery:
“He’s meeting all the thresholds that you need to meet that will get him to where he can play this week,” Jones said. “So far he’s had no setbacks.”
That’s exactly what Dallas needs to hear. Lamb has been the heartbeat of the Cowboys’ offense this season, and his availability could be the difference between a bounce-back performance and another frustrating outing.
Make no mistake-this is a pivotal moment in the Cowboys’ season. The loss to Detroit stung, and while a wildcard berth may be slipping out of reach, the NFC East crown is still in play if the chips fall the right way. But to stay in that race, Dallas needs to be at full strength-and that’s why this week’s injury updates matter so much.
Getting Diggs back helps lock down the back end. Guyton and Clowney can help win the battle in the trenches.
And Lamb? He’s the game-changer.
The playmaker. The guy who can turn a 5-yard slant into a 50-yard statement.
The Cowboys are gearing up for a heavyweight NFC showdown with the Vikings, and the timing couldn’t be better. Health is trending up.
The stakes are rising. And if this team can get its stars back on the field, Dallas might just have enough firepower to make a December push.
All eyes on The Star this week.
