Cowboys Receiver Debate Just Took An Unexpected Turn

Despite a strong resume, veteran receiver Stefon Diggs struggles to find a top spot on the depth chart among the Dallas Cowboys' talented roster.

Stefon Diggs is still looking for a home, but the Dallas Cowboys are a pretty rough place to sell his latest argument.

The 32-year-old wideout has been unsigned since the New England Patriots cut him loose in what was reportedly a cap-saving move after their Super Bowl LX loss to the Seattle Seahawks. Training camps are only two weeks away, and Diggs is still out there waiting.

He hasn’t exactly been quiet about it, either. Diggs has made the case that even if a team already has a true No. 1 receiver, nobody can “name a better No. 2 receiver than him.”

He tried to support that by pointing to his own numbers from age 32: 85 catches, 1,013 yards and four touchdowns, all while serving as New England’s clear top target.

But Dallas makes that claim look shaky fast.

CeeDee Lamb remains the Cowboys’ undisputed lead receiver, even after missing three games last season. And George Pickens just blew past the kind of production Diggs is talking about, posting career highs with 93 receptions, 1,429 yards and nine touchdowns on his way to his first Pro Bowl.

Pickens is also in a contract standoff with Dallas while on the franchise tag, and that alone says plenty about how the Cowboys value his recent output.

Lamb was productive too, finishing with 1,077 yards in limited action. Put it all together, and Diggs’ case as the league’s best second option starts to fall apart.

Diggs still has the kind of resume and route-running that keep him tied to teams like the Los Angeles Chargers, Washington Commanders, or even a Buffalo Bills reunion. But if the debate is about who owns the WR2 crown, Dallas has two names standing in his way.

Cowboys Fans Are Losing It Over This Dak Offseason Photo

A viral offseason image of Dak Prescott has been making the rounds online, and it has plenty of Cowboys fans doing a double take. The picture shows Prescott looking dramatically bigger than usual, the kind of photo that can light up social media in a hurry when a franchise quarterback is trying to reset the tone for a new season.

Prescott has already made clear what he wants the standard to be in 2026, saying the playoffs are the minimum goal after Dallas missed out the last two years. There is still a long way to go before the real test arrives, but the Cowboys will get an immediate stage when they open against the Giants on Sunday Night Football in Week 1. [Read more 🡒]

Cowboys Suddenly Pulled Into A Dak Rumor That Feels Ridiculous

A fresh quarterback rumor has nudged the Cowboys into an uncomfortable spot, even if the fit looks shaky on paper. The chatter centers on a former high draft pick who has already seen his role change in Indianapolis, where the Colts made a different move at quarterback and left the door open for plenty of speculation around what comes next.

For Dallas, the timing makes the whole thing feel more like noise than a real possibility. Dak Prescott is still the starter, and the Cowboys already have depth behind him, which makes a trade for another quarterback hard to justify unless the market shifts in a hurry. Still, once a team gets mentioned in a rumor like this, it tends to linger until the next move somewhere else finally clears it up. [Read more 🡒]
