The Cowboys are still searching for answers on defense, and the latest name floated as a possible fix is a familiar one from the NFC North.
ESPN’s Aaron Schatz listed Dallas as a team that should trade for New York Jets edge rusher Kingsley Enagbare, a player who is in the middle of a strong first season in East Rutherford and on pace for a career year. With the Cowboys stuck near the bottom of the league in sacks, the idea is simple: add another body who can get after the quarterback and help steady a pass rush that has not delivered enough.
Dallas enters Week 9 tied for the fifth-fewest sacks in the NFL with 15, and that number stands out even more because the Cowboys have not had their bye week yet. Schatz also noted that Enagbare ranks third among all NFL edge rushers this season in run stop win rate, giving him a profile that goes beyond just chasing sacks.
Quinnen Williams has supplied five sacks, but the edge rush production has not been where the defense needs it to be. That’s why Enagbare is drawing attention as a possible target.
The 26-year-old is on a one-year deal with the Jets, which makes him a logical trade candidate for a team looking for help now. He would also arrive with something to prove as he tries to position himself for a new contract. Through seven starts this season, Enagbare has posted 24 total tackles, 2.5 sacks and one forced fumble.
There’s also a little familiarity here for Dallas. The Cowboys have already traded for two former Green Bay Packers since last August, and Enagbare would make it three. He spent his first four seasons in Green Bay after the Packers selected him in the fifth round of the 2022 NFL Draft, and he played alongside Kenny Clark and Rashan Gary during that stretch.
In 68 games with the Packers, including 21 starts, Enagbare recorded 146 total tackles, 79 solo tackles, 11.5 sacks and three forced fumbles.
Dallas is still looking for anything that can provide a spark, and a player with that background could be one more piece worth considering.

Quinnen Williams Sounds Off As Cowboys Defense Hits Breaking Point
With the Cowboys sitting at 3-5 and trying to steady a defense that has repeatedly put them in a hole, Quinnen Williams has emerged as one of the few bright spots on that side of the ball. His production has stood out even in a difficult season, but he has also taken ownership of some of the units shortcomings, a sign of how much pressure is building around a group that has struggled to find consistency.
As Dallas turns its attention to the Colts in Week 9, the bigger question is whether Williams can help spark a turnaround before the season slips further out of reach. The defense has reached a breaking point, and while Williams has been part of the solution at times, the Cowboys still need more from everyone around him if they want to stop the slide. [Read more 🡒]
Cowboys Secondary Is Already Emerging As A Long Term Draft Priority
The Cowboys defense has been one of the early disappointments of the season, with the unit sitting near the bottom of the league in both total defense and pass defense. That kind of performance tends to sharpen the focus on the draft board, and one recent 2027 NFL mock draft already has Dallas looking to the secondary for help, projecting Georgia cornerback Ellis Robinson IV as a future fit.
Robinson has put together a strong college rsum and would give the Cowboys a young corner with the kind of upside teams covet when they start thinking beyond the current roster. The fit becomes even more interesting if Dallas eventually decides to move on from DaRon Bland, which would leave a clear opening for another long-term piece in a secondary that needs more stability. Colts Land In A Week 9 Spot With Bigger Stakes Than Expected
Dallas entered November at 3-5 after a loss to the Arizona Cardinals, and the margin for error has all but disappeared as the schedule turns to the Colts in Week 9. DraftKings Sportsbook has Dallas favored by six points, which only sharpens the pressure around a game that feels bigger than a typical midseason matchup for a team trying to steady itself and keep its season from drifting further off course.
The stakes go beyond one result on Sunday. Depending on how this one plays out, the Cowboys could be forced to make some hard decisions before the trade deadline, with the front office weighing whether to stand pat or make a move to try to salvage the season. For a team already in must-win territory, the Colts are arriving at a moment when the ripple effects could reach well past the final score. [Read more 🡒]
