Jerry Jones Sends Support to Micah Parsons After Season-Ending ACL Injury
Week 15 of the 2025 NFL season delivered a brutal blow-not just to playoff hopes, but to some of the league’s brightest stars. Among the biggest storylines: Micah Parsons, now with the Green Bay Packers, suffered a torn ACL, cutting short what was shaping up to be a career year. And while he no longer wears the star on his helmet, Parsons’ impact in Dallas clearly hasn’t faded.
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, speaking on 105.3 The Fan, offered a heartfelt message to his former defensive cornerstone.
“I’m sad for Micah,” Jones said. “That’s quite a challenge. I wish him the very best on his recovery.”
Jones went on to reflect on how injuries can reshape a player’s mindset and career trajectory, recalling a moment from Cowboys legend Michael Irvin’s early years.
“Michael Irvin said when he had his big surgery during, I think, his second year with the Cowboys, he said he realized what football really did mean to him. And he said the surgery really launched him into the best part of his career, because he got to feel what it might look like not to play again.”
Jones finished with a sincere sendoff: “There’s a lot of ways you can couch this thing. But, Micah, I wish you the very best.”
A Dominant Season Cut Short
Before the injury, Parsons was in full beast mode. With 12.5 sacks, 26 quarterback hits, and 12 tackles for loss, he was everything the Packers hoped for when they brought him in-and everything Cowboys fans missed after his departure. His explosiveness off the edge, ability to disrupt in the backfield, and relentless motor made him a weekly headache for opposing offenses.
This wasn’t just a good season. It was shaping up to be the season-one that could’ve put him in the Defensive Player of the Year conversation. Green Bay had unlocked him in all the right ways, and he responded by wreaking havoc from Week 1 on.
But now, with a torn ACL, his season ends prematurely. Recovery timelines vary, and while there’s always hope for a quicker return, the Packers are likely to take the long view with their defensive star. They know what they have in Parsons, and they'll want him at full strength when he returns-not just for 2026, but for the long haul.
Still a Cowboy at Heart?
Though he’s now wearing green and gold, Parsons' connection to Dallas runs deep. Drafted by the Cowboys and quickly becoming the face of their defense, he brought energy, swagger, and elite production to a unit that badly needed it. His departure left a void-and his injury, strangely, brought old emotions back to the surface.
Jones’ words weren’t just about a player getting hurt. They were about a relationship that still matters, even across team lines. Parsons may be a Packer now, but in Dallas, he’s still Micah-the Lion who once roared for the Cowboys.
And make no mistake: the Lion will roar again.
When he does, whether it’s in Lambeau or on a national stage, fans in both Dallas and Green Bay will be watching. Because players like Micah Parsons don’t just fade into the background.
They come back stronger. They come back hungry.
And they always stay part of the conversation.
