The Dallas Cowboys may not be done adding to their defense after landing Von Miller.
A new name has surfaced in the team’s search for cornerback help: Adoree Jackson. ESPN NFL insider Jeremy Fowler reported Sunday evening that Dallas has looked into free agency at the position, and Jackson is one of the players to monitor.
“In addition to Von Miller, the Cowboys have explored cornerback help via free agency. One name to watch is Adoree Jackson, who was with DC (defensive coordinator) Christian Parker in Philadelphia,” Fowler posted on the social media website X, formerly Twitter.
Fowler also noted that “Jackson has interest from a few teams, though” as the late stretch of NFL free agency continues.
Jackson would bring another familiar NFC East connection into the mix. Miller spent last season with the Washington Commanders, where he posted nine sacks despite the team dealing with injuries across the roster.
That total was his best in a full season since 2022, when he had eight with the Buffalo Bills. Before that, Miller hadn’t reached nine sacks in a season since 2018, when he finished with 14.5 for the Denver Broncos.
Jackson’s recent work in Philadelphia shows why he could be on Dallas’ radar. Playing under Parker, he finished with 11 pass breakups, the second-highest single-season total of his career. He also had one interception and 40 solo tackles.
If the Cowboys make the move, Jackson would become the fourth different NFL stop of his career. He entered the league in 2017 out of USC, where he was known for his rare value as both a wide receiver and cornerback before settling in at corner for most of his professional career.
A potential Jackson addition would give Dallas another piece for a secondary that already includes rookie safety Caleb Downs and All-Pro corner DaRon Bland.

Cowboys Fringe Players Already Hurt Themselves In Dallas First Roster Battle
The first Cowboys preseason test did not go especially well for a few fringe players trying to carve out a place on the 53-man roster. DJ Rogers, Langston Patterson, Traeshon Holden and Caelen Carson all came out of the opener with work to do, and the tape only added to the pressure that comes with fighting for limited spots this time of year. For a roster that still has decisions to make at several positions, those are the kinds of early-night snaps that can quickly tilt a competition.
Rogers and Holden were especially hard to ignore because their mistakes came in moments that tend to stick with coaches, while Patterson and Carson did not do enough in their chances to steady themselves. Dallas is still early in the process, but preseason games are where the first impressions get made and where players on the margin can start losing ground fast. For this group, the next few practices and exhibition reps may matter as much as the opener did. [Read more 🡒]
Cowboys Roster Squeeze Just Cost One Bubble Receiver His Shot
The Cowboys kept tinkering with the bottom of the roster after adding Von Miller, and one of the clearest effects was at wide receiver, where Traeshon Holden was waived to make room. Holden had been living on the bubble because of where he stood on the depth chart, and his case never really gained traction as camp and preseason progressed.
A special teams miscue only made the path steeper, as a preseason error at Seattle weighed into the decision-making. His departure also shifts the picture for the receivers behind the established names, giving players such as Camden Brown a better look as Dallas continues sorting out the last few spots.
