Cowboys May Catch Colts Right Before A Deadline Shakeup

As the Colts gear up for potential roster shake-ups post-Week 9, fans and analysts alike are speculating which key players might be on the move before the fast-approaching trade deadline.

The Indianapolis Colts may be one of the busiest teams in the NFL once Week 9 wraps up, but if Jordan Schultz is right, the real action won’t hit until after Sunday’s game against the Cowboys.

Schultz reported that the Colts have already drawn calls on several players, with Jonathan Taylor, Josh Downs, Grover Stewart and others among the names generating interest. Still, the expectation around the league is that Indianapolis will hold off on making moves unless someone comes in with an offer that “blows them away.”

“Sources: The Colts have received plenty of calls on several players, including Jonathan Taylor, Josh Downs, Grover Stewart and others,” Schultz reports. “But the belief around the league is that, barring an offer that blows them away, Indianapolis plans to wait until after Sunday’s game vs the Cowboys before revisiting the offers on the table and making the trades that make sense on Monday and Tuesday ahead of the deadline.”

That lines up with the way things have felt around the team since last week’s trades of Quenton Nelson and DeForest Buckner. The noise has been relatively quiet since then, even though the roster still has several players who could draw interest before the deadline.

The Colts are expected to keep evaluating their options after the Week 9 matchup, with the trade deadline set for Tuesday, November 10. That gives Indianapolis a short window - November 9 and 10 - to sort through the calls and decide which deals are worth making.

Taylor, Downs and Stewart look like the most likely names to move, but Schultz’s report leaves the door open for a few more players to become available for contenders as well. Even if the Colts manage to beat Dallas, they’d still appear to be sellers, with their playoff odds described as incredibly small and the decision to sell already made.

So for fans waiting on a deal, the timing matters. Sunday may be the last game in a Colts uniform for a number of players, and Monday and Tuesday could bring a flurry of activity in Indianapolis.

Cowboys Pass Rusher Fires Back As Defensive Frustration Boils Over

Quinnen Williams has been one of the few bright spots on a Cowboys defense that has spent much of this season fighting uphill, and his message in a recent news conference was plain enough: the group needs to execute. With Dallas sitting near the bottom of the league in both yards and points allowed, the frustration around the unit has only grown, and Williams, who leads the team in sacks, has become one of the most visible voices trying to steady it.

Skip Bayless latched onto Williams repeated use of that word and twisted it into a much darker interpretation, saying the pass rusher was calling for players to be "executed on the field." Williams pushed back on social media, turning a routine football point into another flashpoint around a defense already under pressure. For a Cowboys team still searching for answers, even the language around accountability is becoming part of the story. [Read more 🡒]

Cowboys Injury Report Raises New Concern As George Pickens Role Looms

The Cowboys Week 9 injury report brought a familiar kind of midseason unease, with 16 players listed and seven of them not practicing. Among the names drawing the most attention were Jake Ferguson, Caleb Downs, P.J. Locke and Malachi Lawrence, a group that underscores how thin the roster can look when the weeks workload starts to pile up.

Caleb Downs and P.J. Locke are both in concussion protocol, and Malachi Lawrence is expected to miss a few weeks, leaving Dallas with more uncertainty than it would like this early in November. At the same time, Brian Schottenheimer is trying to navigate George Pickens limited snaps, a situation he tied to the receivers injuries while acknowledging the offense needs to do a better job getting him involved. Cowboys Face Two Tough Week 9 Calls After Cardinals Loss

The Cowboys are still sorting through the fallout from their loss to the Cardinals, and the biggest concern remains the same one that has followed them for much of the season: the running game and the line in front of it. With Indianapolis coming up in Week 9, the conversation inside the building has turned to whether Dallas needs to be more aggressive about changing the mix in the backfield and getting more out of the edge spots up front.

Tyler Goodson has flashed enough to make a stronger role worth considering, especially if the Cowboys want a little more juice behind Javonte Williams. The other question is just as important, and maybe more immediate, because the right side of the offensive line has not been steady enough to ignore. Dallas is weighing whether a lineup tweak there could give the offense a better chance to hold up against the Colts, even if it means making a difficult call on a starter. [Read more 🡒]
